Driving under the influence is very dangerous and causes thousands of car accidents and deaths each year. Holiday seasons are a great time to spend socializing with friends and family, but also a time when impaired driving due to alcohol and other substances increases.
December is National Impaired Driving Prevention Month, and we cannot overemphasize the importance of safe driving this holiday season. If you or someone you know is under the influence, choose a safer option, like designating a sober driver or taking public transportation, instead of getting behind the wheel. This decision will save you and everyone else on the road.
Drive smart!

Holiday time means holiday meals, plates of tasty treats to dish up and enjoy this season! As you are preparing your next dinner or get-together, consider switching up your menu with simple tips from a St. Bernard Hospital dietician that’ll keep your guests happy and healthy.
Alterations like applesauce instead of oil or fat free yogurt over mayonnaise may feel different, but small changes like these will keep your dishes light and your body safe.

We are entering the winter season and infants are at a greater risk of experiencing Sudden Infant Death Syndrome. This condition, known as SIDS, is the third largest cause of death for infants aged 1-12 months.
As colder weather sets in, parents may want to provide extra warmth to their children with blankets and clothes. This added support is well meaning, but it may lead to overheating and increase the child’s risk for SIDS.
Stay informed about safe infant sleep practices and about the ways you can prevent SIDS and keep your children safe. Visit www.stbh.org for more information.
