Hey there peeps!!! How goes it with you all? It’s been a truly tumultuous two years with everything that has been going on in the world and in the U. S. I move been doing my best to hang in there and ride it out when I’m not signing online petitions. ( I really try to make a difference-I don’t know how much the petitions really accomplish). I just know there’s been an awful lot of bad and that I know we could all use more good! The most I can say is to just keep hanging in there, fighting for what you believe in, don’t give up! I’m sure that all of our actions will make a big difference one day . So keep hanging in there!!!

California is set to prohibit nonmedical cat declawing statewide beginning in 2026, expanding animal welfare protections across the state. The new law will ban the elective procedure except in cases where it is deemed medically necessary by a licensed veterinarian. Supporters say the measure aligns with growing concerns among veterinary and animal advocacy groups about the long-term health and behavioral impacts associated with declawing.

Declawing, which involves the removal of part of a cat’s toes, has already been restricted in several California cities. The statewide policy aims to create uniform standards and prevent the practice for cosmetic or convenience purposes. Opponents have raised concerns about property damage and pet management, but lawmakers say the change prioritizes humane treatment and modern veterinary guidance.

I’m taking a rare moment to pop in, say “hello”, and to say that I hope you’re all in a good headspace right now. This is a very difficult time of year for so many (myself included). We’re on the cusp of one year ending and another beginning and it can really hit you like a ton of bricks because it really does mirror where many of us are at in our lives; whether we think we’ve accomplished anything this past year, or, if we see ourselves having done nothing. It’s hard because so many around us deal with what’s going in right now in a different way and are oblivious to the pain we are in. In can truly make one feel very alone and even hopeless. If anyone of you reading this is suffering emotionally now, I just want to make a suggestion: Get out a piece of paper and write down a list of everything you wanted to make happen for yourself along with what how far you got with that. Also, remember that you are not alone. All of us are in the same spot feeling the same things. If we keep that in mind, then even though we’re not sharing the same physical space, we are all going through the same stuff and each individual person can keep that in mind. We have each other, we’re going through this together and we have strength within us so we can make it through. Wishing everyone Happy Holidays, and Lots of Love!💕

They weren’t supposed to meet 🐾. One was a battle-scarred Husky, rescued from a backyard where the chain around his neck had rusted into his fur ⛓️💔. The other, a scruffy Goldendoodle, was found shivering in an abandoned shed, her fur so matted she could barely move 😢.

The shelter staff never planned to house them together—two different breeds, two different pasts, both carrying trust issues a mile wide 💔➡️❤️. But the kennels were full, and sometimes fate hides in those “we have no choice” moments ✨.

At first, they kept their distance. The Husky paced restlessly, eyes sharp like winter ice, while the Goldendoodle curled up, avoiding eye contact. Then, on the third night, staff arrived to find them side by side, pressed against the kennel wall as if they’d been holding the darkness off together.

From that day, they were inseparable 💞. He shielded her from loud noises, she coaxed him into chasing a torn tennis ball. On walks, they moved in perfect sync—her light bounce softening his steady, wolf-like stride 🐺.

When the rescue posted their photo 📸, the caption was just four words: “Adopt us together, please.” The applications poured in, and now in their forever home 🏡, they start every morning like this—shoulder to shoulder, matching silver collars, watching the world like a team that will never break again.

Because it won’t. Not this time. Not together.

Chicago will not stand by while the federal government weaponizes emergency funding to attack our values. We will fight to ensure our first responders have the tools they need, that our commitment to equity and inclusion remains strong, and that we receive every federal dollar intended for public safety.
