Chicago's Mobile Clinics MCF's goal is to provide the best quality medical and dental care to low-income children.

Through Asthma Vans, MCF provides comprehensive chronic disease management--a full doctor's office on wheels--and children keep coming back to the clinic until they turn 19 or find a new medical provider. The Dental Van, likewise, provides a full spectrum of services including restorative care. Both clinics seek to me a home for children, a place they can go throughout their childhood instead of just receiving limited care once.

We have been very fortunate in years past to drum up a lot of support for this campaign, and we felt hopeful that we could count on this community to show up again.

And boy were we right!

Last year, we pinched ourselves for attracting a record breaking 239 donors, and going from an initial goal of $15,000 to a total of $37,212.

This year, we’re thrilled to share that thanks to the support of 428 donors, we have surpassed our initial goal of $20,000 by more than double, raising $42,240.

So this week, as we count all the things we’re grateful for, we want to take this opportunity to thank you for your enthusiastic support.

Over the past 25 years, Mobile Care Chicago has grown and transformed in remarkable ways. From humble beginnings, we've expanded our reach and capabilities to serve more communities and provide critical healthcare services to children who need it most.

We’ve called many garages home, each one a stepping stone toward greater impact. But for the first time in 25 years, we're operating out of THREE garages simultaneously!

Our Root Street and Lake County garages function as operational hubs for MCC's core services, but we are extremely excited about the goings-on at our newest garage.

Our newest garage on Lake St now houses MCC’s Flex Van and UIC/COIP/MCC’s harm reduction clinic. This garage is also known as the Community Dispatch, home to clinics of MCC partner orgs like Humboldt Park Health. The Community Dispatch is a pillar of MCC’s Community Health Incubator, where MCC will assist community organizations in scaling their services to a mobile model-of-care. The Community Dispatch provides a safe, clean, temperature regulated space for orgs with existing medical clinics, as well as clinic maintenance resources.

Launching a mobile clinic is no small feat, and we understand that it comes with inherent risks. There are many potential (and expensive) mistakes that can be made with mobile clinics that could potentially shutter a nonprofit for good. However, after 25 years of experience providing care to families aboard mobile clinics, we are certain that we can use our past experiences to empower other essential nonprofits to extend their reach to more patients than ever before.

We are excited to introduce a groundbreaking initiative at Mobile Care Chicago—the Community Dispatch! The Community Dispatch is our brand new communal garage, which serves as a pillar of our Community Health Incubator Initiative, designed to empower local leaders and organizations committed to improving health access and equity in underserved communities across Chicagoland.

Our Story

Mobile Care Chicago is a not-for-profit organization that that uses mobile clinics to help children who need to see a specialist and who live in geographic areas where those services are not typically available. Using Asthma Vans and Dental Vans, Mobile Care works with over 100 schools in and around Chicago. We are the allergy, asthma, and/or dental provider for over 7,000 children.

Over 95% of Asthma Van patients never go back to an ER or hospital for their asthma. For children assisted through our Dental Vans, we have been able to reduce tooth decay in some neighborhoods from 53% to less than 25%

In recent years, Mobile Care's innovative programs have expanded to include home-based asthma care and telehealth appointments for parents who can't take off work but still want their child to receive medical care.

Mobile Care Chicago's impact has been recognized and promoted nationally. Most recently, the organization won the HCSA Program of Excellence Award in 2016, the 25th annual Monroe E. Trout Premier Cares Award in 2017, and the CHEST Foundation's Community Service Award in 2018.
