Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) is a type of psychotherapy that helps people develop greater acceptance and flexibility in their lives. It is a relatively new approach to therapy, but it has been shown to be effective in treating a variety of mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, and chronic pain.

ACT is based on the idea that people suffer when they try to control or avoid difficult thoughts and feelings. When we try to suppress or change our thoughts, we often end up feeling worse. ACT teaches people to accept their thoughts and feelings as they are, and to focus on what they can control, which is their own actions.

ACT is a six-step process that involves:

Contact with the present moment. ACT teaches people to be mindful of the present moment, and to accept their thoughts and feelings as they are.

Acceptance of thoughts and feelings. ACT teaches people to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment, even if they are unpleasant.

Defusion. ACT teaches people to decouple their thoughts from their emotions. This means that they can learn to observe their thoughts without getting caught up in them.

Values clarification. ACT helps people clarify their values, which are the things that are most important to them in life.

Committed action. ACT helps people develop a plan of action to achieve their values.

Monitoring and self-evaluation. ACT helps people track their progress and make adjustments as needed.

ACT is a powerful tool for helping people live more meaningful and fulfilling lives. If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or chronic pain, ACT may be a good option for you.

Here are some of the benefits of ACT:

Increased acceptance and flexibility. ACT helps people develop greater acceptance of themselves and their experiences. This can lead to a more flexible and adaptable approach to life.

Reduced stress and anxiety. ACT can help people reduce stress and anxiety by helping them to accept their thoughts and feelings without judgment.

Increased self-awareness. ACT can help people become more aware of their thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. This can lead to a greater understanding of themselves and their motivations.

Improved relationships. ACT can help people improve their relationships by helping them to communicate more effectively and to be more present with their loved ones.

Increased motivation. ACT can help people increase their motivation to make changes in their lives by helping them to identify their values and to develop a plan of action to achieve them.

If you are interested in learning more about ACT, there are a number of resources available online and in your local community. You can find ACT therapists in your community here: https://contextualscience.org/civicrm/profile%3Fgid%3D17%2526reset%3D1%2526force%3D1.

Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is a neurodevelopmental disorder that can cause difficulties with attention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. While there is no cure for ADHD, there are a number of treatments that can help manage the symptoms and improve quality of life. One of these treatments is coaching.

Coaching is a type of skills-based service that can help people with ADHD develop skills and strategies to manage their symptoms and achieve their goals. Coaching is not a substitute for medication, but it can be a valuable addition to treatment.

What is ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching is a collaborative, supportive, and goal-oriented process in which the coach and the client work together to identify the client's goals and then develop the self-awareness, systems, skills, and strategies necessary for the client to achieve those goals and full potential.

ADHD coaching is not therapy. Therapists focus on helping clients understand and cope with their emotions, while coaches focus on helping clients develop the skills and strategies they need to manage their ADHD symptoms and achieve their goals.

How can ADHD coaching help?

ADHD coaching can help people with ADHD in a number of ways, including:

-Developing skills and strategies to manage symptoms such as inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity
-Improving time management and organization
-Developing goal-setting and planning skills
-Improving social skills and communication
-Increasing self-awareness and self-esteem

Who can benefit from ADHD coaching?

ADHD coaching can benefit anyone with ADHD, regardless of age, gender, or severity of symptoms. Coaching can also be beneficial for people who are struggling with the effects of ADHD on their relationships, work, or school.

What to expect from ADHD coaching

ADHD coaching is a collaborative process that involves the client and the coach working together to identify the client's goals and then develop the self-awareness, systems, skills, and strategies necessary for the client to achieve those goals and full potential.

Sessions with an ADHD coach typically last 60-90 minutes and are held once or twice a week. During sessions, the coach will help the client identify their goals, develop a plan to achieve those goals, and provide support and accountability.

How to find an ADHD coach

There are a number of ways to find an ADHD coach, including:

-Asking your doctor for a referral
-Searching online directories of ADHD coaches
-Attending an ADHD support group or conference
-Asking friends or family members for recommendations

When choosing an ADHD coach, it is important to find someone who is qualified and experienced. You should also make sure that you feel comfortable working with the coach and that the coach understands your unique needs.

Conclusion

ADHD coaching can be a valuable tool for people with ADHD. Coaching can help you develop the skills and strategies you need to manage your symptoms and achieve your goals.
