The journey to officially become a licensed therapist is often unsung. We suffer in silence when spaces are not made for us or designed to help us win. My journey was made unnecessarily hard by others but when it's meant for you, it's already written.

I will be forever grateful for my journey. I learned that possibilities are endless and being a powerful leader is from humility and partnership, not control and fear. To be continued...

People-pleasing isn’t harmony.
Silence isn’t safety.

We've been busy having a time and the fun will continue - alongside the progress and impact. If you've been around for a minute - hey! If you're new here, a little reintroduction -

I’m Shemiah. Still Chicago. Still South Side. Licensed Relationship Therapist and Certified Gottman Therapist - #607 in the world to be exact 🌟

Still inspired to help people create real relationships with more clarity and intention. Still deeply committed to training and supporting future therapists and counselors with quality education and training experiences. Still having a blast with my team and having a positive impact on clients and their communities.

I'm not a New Year's resolution-type person but I usually choose a word for the year. The word serves as a theme and a guide for how I move, set goals and execute.

For 2026, I chose discipline as a means to:
- exude intentionality and purpose
- stay focused and not be distracted, even if things are positive - they can wait.
- be consistent to build patience
- grow a practice for wellness that stays at the top of the list, not just "when I have time"

I'll share updates as the journey progresses. Looking forward to 2026 cuz we ain't running 2025 back!
