ISMIE Mutual takes pride in our long history of physician-focused policyholder leadership. Since our founding in 1976, ISMIE’s Board of Directors has been comprised of physician policyholders. During our 50 years of operation, there have been four Board Chairs. Given our Illinois roots, all have hailed from the Land of Lincoln.

Our longest-serving chair, Harold L. Jensen, M.D., an internist from Frankfort, IL, led the organization for 26 years before his passing. Current Chair Paul H. DeHaan, M.D., a Crystal Lake, IL-based orthopedic surgeon, has served since 2018.

As we continue charting our course toward the future, rest assured that our policyholders will always remain our priority — a commitment that has always come from the very top.
