🌕Still a few spots left for Nikki's Full Moon Circle & Yoga!
💫 Come together in community to honor the energy of the full moon through movement, meditation, journaling, intention setting and learning how the month’s energy could be impacting you.

You will have the option to pull a card from one or all of Nikki's tarot cards, oracle cards, animal spirit cards, or another deck she brings. Nikki will then share her knowledge about the Full Moon we are currently experiencing and how it affects us and the world around us. She will then lead you through a slow flow yoga class that is accessible to everyBODY. Class closes with journaling what you would like to let go of or cleanse during this full moon and what you would like to bring in or hold on to.

A dropped pin will be shared with those that sign up as to our exact location on The Point! Rain location will be emailed an hour before class starts if needed.

💙 BIG CHANGES! 💙

Most of you all know already, but for our FB and IG family we have some big changes coming to BLY!

After much reflection and meditation, I have come to the decision that Blue Lotus Yoga will be leaving the current studio space, with our last in studio class being Wed 6/26. Unfortunately, it is no longer sustainable to stay in this space for me, my family, or Blue Lotus Yoga. I am completely devastated by the loss of our physical studio space. We (me, my family, & all of you) have poured all of ourselves into this space.

This is not the end of Blue Lotus Yoga. We will be transitioning to a summer schedule consisting of a combination of outside, in person, & virtual classes.

While we look for a more permanent space, we will be collaborating with some community spaces (official details TBD) to host in person classes.

I am incredibly PROUD of the space and community we have created and am working to trust that this is just the beginning of greater things for BLY.
It has been the greatest honor of my life to build this space and see it blossom into the amazing community space it has become. I am eternally GRATEFUL for each and every one of you for your support and contributions to Blue Lotus Yoga and this amazing community.

I am putting all my trust in YOU ALL and the universe that all of this will bring something bigger and better for our Woodlawn Yoga Community.

We will be celebrating the current space on Thurs. 6/27 6-8 PM. This will be a Community Potluck & Fundraiser for our next chapter. I will be teaching a short Yoga & Meditation class to say farewell to the space at 6:00 and then we will hold space and celebrate together afterwards. Come for part or all! Bring (Vegan) food or just enjoy the space and food others have brought to share!

Knowing how to move, breath, communicate during the birthing experience will give you more confidence and trust in your body. Building and practicing tools, ways to move, and ways to interact, and speak with your partner with allow you the space to do the work of birthing. For your partner, learning how to support you, speak to, and touch you before, during, and after birth will help you feel more connected, grounded, and comforted. Your partner will feel more involved in the birthing process if they are able to support and communicate with you in a way that promotes comfort and support. and involved in the birthing experience. It will also help the one birthing feel more supported, grounded, and comforted throughout the birth process. When pregnant and birthing people feel supported and held (not just physically) by their birthing partners it helps them know they can let go and handle the work of birth and is shown decrease the risk of birth interventions.

In this workshop you will:
*Learn a yoga positions, movement, and pressure holds to use during labor to bring comfort, both during and between contractions.
*Discuss and practice ways to communicate with each other during the birthing process
*Learn and discuss fears and ways to support and calm those fears before and during labor
*Spend time with your birthing partner to help you both feel more connected to each other and support you in giving birth.
*Feel more confident about using touch to comfort during labor

💙Starts Back Up NEXT WED, May 1st!💙

Connect with other new-ish parents, however you became a parent, to discuss the challenges of the parenthood. This group is LGBTQIA+ inclusive and provides a safe and non-judgmental space to learn through the group discussions, share experiences, exchange information and gain support during an adjustment stage that can be a complex combination of excitement, love, depression, and anxiety. We will also do a little yoga and breathwork.

Little ones are welcome. Class is Donation Based.

Join Kyla Lee, founder of Well Stretched Black Girl, for a day retreat in honor of African American Women's History Month and African American Women's Fitness Month.

Release all your worries and stress with this Stretch & Sip Day Retreat. A 2.5 hour immersive healing workshop focused on releasing stressors from the body. We will start with a 45-minute Slow Flow Stretching Class, followed by a 15-minute Sound Bath Meditation, and then stay for the Healing Lunch & Learn Discussion.

There will also be a Licensed Aesthetician & Massage Therapist for mini facials and massages!

Welcome to Blue Lotus Yoga, a community-based yoga studio in Woodlawn.

Yoga is a physical, mental, and spiritual practice tracing its origins back over 5,000 years to ancient India. The practice of yoga combines a series of postures with awareness, focused breathing, mindful living, and meditation. Yoga is proven to reduce blood pressure, lower heart rate, calm and soothe the mind, counter depression, improve balance and sleep, decrease joint and muscle pain, and countless other benefits.

Our mission is to promote health, wellness, healing, and community in a warm, accessible, trauma-informed and stress-free environment. We offer yoga classes suitable for all ages, sizes, shapes and fitness levels with a focus on mindful breathing, connection to one’s body, relaxation, increasing flexibility and building strength. We also offer private classes, workshops, and space rental for events and special occasions.

The Lotus flower has long been a symbol of spiritual enlightenment and rebirth, historically in Buddhist and Egyptian cultures. Its roots take up their home in muddy river bottoms and every night the blossoms submerge into the murky water and rebloom each morning, untouched by the dirt. This flower is an incredible metaphor for life. The phrase ‘no mud, no lotus’ is commonly used to mean in life there is always hardship and difficulties, and rising through and learning from those challenges reveals our lotus, a life more beautiful than ever. In Buddhism, the Blue Lotus flower represents knowledge and intelligence and is rarely depicted in full bloom, representing the never-ending quest for knowledge. At Blue Lotus Yoga we take this meaning to heart and it is our mission to continue to learn and grow towards wisdom to serve our community to the best of our ability.
