Late-night Google spirals. Group chat advice. Contradicting articles. Instagram posts.

When it comes to feeding your baby, the internet can feel like a mess of maybes and what-ifs. But you don’t need a hundred open tabs — you need one person who actually knows what they’re talking about. Talking to an IBCLC before your baby arrives cuts through the noise — so you get expert, evidence-based guidance *before* the 4am internet doom scroll even begins.

Just because breastfeeding was hard before doesn’t mean it will be this time.

Maybe it felt overwhelming. Maybe it was full of unexpected challenges. That doesn’t mean you failed — it means you were doing it without the help you needed.

This time, it can be different. IBCLCs are here to meet you where you are—before the baby comes, before the pressure builds, before the self-doubt creeps in. With expert, evidence-based care, your IBCLC can help you navigate feeding with more confidence and less guesswork. You don’t have to do it alone.

Tubes. Parts. Suction settings. Mystery pieces. A pump shows up in the mail and suddenly you’re expected to become a lactation engineer.

It’s a lot — even for second-time parents. But you don’t have to figure it out alone. An IBCLC can walk you through all of it: When to start pumping, how often to do it, and how to keep your supply steady once you’re back at work or away from baby.

Because it’s not just about putting the pieces together — it’s about having a plan that works for you. Your body, your schedule, your goals.

It’s one of the most common worries we hear from new parents: What if I don’t make enough milk? Followed closely by: What if I make too much?

The truth is, your body hasn’t done this before — and while your brain is trying to prepare for every possibility, its just easier to go straight to the expert. A prenatal visit with an IBCLC gives you space to ask every question (yes, even that one) before you’re in the thick of it — so you can feel prepared, supported, and confident from day one.

If you’re headed to a 4th of July BBQ and need a quick, crowd-pleasing dish, we’ve got you covered. This Peach Caprese Salad comes together in minutes — and it’s packed with ingredients that support you and your milk-making body.

Why it’s great for breastfeeding:
🍑 Peaches are rich in vitamins A + C and hydrating potassium.
🧀 Mozzarella is packed with calcium, fat, and protein — all essential for energy, recovery, and milk production. (Breastfeeding parents typically need around ~1,300 mg of calcium daily!)
🌿 Basil is full of antioxidants — but a quick note: Stick to culinary use only. Medicinal doses of basil aren’t recommended while breastfeeding.

Recipe:
- 3-5 large ripe peaches, sliced
- 2-3 large heirloom tomatoes, sliced
- Fresh mozzarella
- Fresh basil leaves
- Olive oil
- Balsamic glaze
- Sea salt

Layer, drizzle, sprinkle — and you’re done 🌞
Breastfeeding-friendly never tasted (or looked) this good.

P.S. Every woman’s nutritional needs during breastfeeding can vary based on individual health, lifestyle, and medical history. It’s important to consult a physician or registered dietitian to receive personalized guidance and ensure that dietary choices support both your well-being and optimal milk production.

So, give yourself permission to enjoy summer as you are, and let go of the pressure to look a certain way ✌ Wear that dress, go to the beach, eat the ice cream, and ditch the negative self-talk.

Breastfeeding is a learned skill — but you don’t have to figure it out alone.

➡️ 93% of parents who had a lactation consultation before their baby was born said it contributed to their success in breastfeeding (TLN Survey 2023).

➡️ And 78% of TLN mothers were able to exclusively breastfeed for 6 months, the clinically recommended timeframe (TLN Survey 2024).

With the support of a TLN International Board Certified Lactation Consultant (IBCLC), you can prepare to breastfeed and overcome challenges that arise along the way.
