🎄 Lifelong Learning and Creative Corner at SJV 🎄

On Tuesday, residents enjoyed a day filled with creativity, learning, and holiday spirit. We explored the history of the Christmas tree during our Lifelong Learning session, sparking conversation, memories, and meaningful discussion.

This was followed by a Mini Christmas Tree Decorating Party, where each resident decorated their very own mini Christmas tree to take with them. Using ornaments, garland, and festive touches, residents created personalized trees to enjoy in their rooms throughout the season.

Moments like these remind us that learning, creativity, and connection are at the heart of life enrichment. ❤️✨

Traditions That Bind: Kwanzaa ❤️💚🖤

As part of our Festival of Traditions celebration , residents had the opportunity to visit our Kwanzaa table, where they learned about this meaningful cultural celebration traditionally observed December 26 through January 1.

Residents explored the Seven Principles (Nguzo Saba), which emphasize unity, purpose, responsibility, and collective growth, while enjoying culturally inspired foods such as collard greens and sweet potato bites. Facts and trivia handouts encouraged conversation, learning, and engagement as residents moved throughout the festival at their own pace.

This table offered a welcoming space for cultural appreciation, reflection, and connection , honoring the traditions that truly bind us together. 🖤❤️💚

Traditions That Bind: Christmas 🎄

Our Christmas table was filled with holiday cheer as part of our Traditions That Bind: Festival of Traditions. Residents stopped by to enjoy traditional holiday treats, warm beverages, festive décor, and joyful conversation.

Surrounded by classic Christmas colors, music, and smiles, this table created a cozy space for reminiscing, laughter, and connection. Moments like these remind us that Christmas is about togetherness, comfort, and the simple joy of being present with one another. 🎅🏼

As part of our Traditions That Bind Festival, we were proud to honor La Posada, a cherished tradition celebrated from December 16–24. Residents learned about the meaning behind La Posada, which represents Mary and Joseph’s journey in search of shelter.

Our community enjoyed festive music, traditional foods, and meaningful conversation while exploring the cultural significance of this beautiful holiday. The experience encouraged reflection, storytelling, and togetherness — reminding us of the importance of hospitality, compassion, and community. ❤️✨

As part of our Traditions That Bind Festival, we were honored to celebrate Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights. Residents gathered around our Hanukkah table to learn about the meaning of the holiday, enjoy traditional foods, and reflect on the themes of light, faith, perseverance, and hope.

Yesterday our community came together for a beautiful celebration honoring the many holidays observed in December. Residents enjoyed our Traditions That Bind Festival, where we highlighted Hanukkah, Christmas, La Posada, and Kwanzaa.

We shared delicious traditional foods, listened to festive music, played games, and learned about the meaning behind each holiday. The room was filled with laughter, storytelling, connection, and joy , exactly what this season is all about. ❤️🎄🕎🎉🇲🇽✨

Tonight our residents enjoyed a beautiful drive-thru holiday light experience at Willow Hill Lights in Northbrook. The smiles, the laughter, and the sparkle in their eyes made the evening truly magical.

A big thank you to our amazing associates who made this outing possible and ensured our residents had a safe, cozy, joy-filled night. 💙
