For the majority of us, COVID has brought deep decreases in patient numbers and revenue.  Many of our POCA clinics were closed for months as we survived on loans and unemployment.  We’ve reorganized and restructured our systems and we’ve been stretched, not only our ability to adapt but in maintaining the resilience required to continue providing affordable acupuncture in a community setting.  Sadly, some CA clinics have closed for good.  Social unrest, political upheaval, the fight for social justice combined with the implosion of our healthcare system has impacted all of us, some more than others.  It’s been very difficult.  Our stress, collectively and individually, as CA punks, has felt, at times, unbearable, overwhelming and isolating.

Why a Membership Drive now, of all times?  Simply put, our CA clinics need patients as much as our patients need us.  And, we all still need a professional organization (POCA) to push for change; in the legislature, in the acupuncture field, within the organization itself.  And, we still need POCA to support clinics and the punks who work in them, our patients who use them and those who aim to open future CA clinics.

Community Acupuncture is as prevalent as it’s ever been, even more so, and we need your help.

In May 1869, the transcontinental railroad across America was completed by mostly Chinese immigrants.

Every May we commemorate this month-long celebration of Asian Pacific American Heritage (APAHM) with recognition of the Asian American Pacific Islanders (AAPI) and their achievements and contributions throughout U.S. history.

As a small business in Chicago's Lincoln Square neighborhood, we are the only Asian American-owned community style acupuncture clinic in the region. Thank you for your continued support.

Thank you to those who see us, hear us and recognize us as Americans (Asian-Americans, Japanese-American, Korean-American, Illinoisans, Chicagoans/former Seattle-ite, Washingtonian, small business owners, community acupuncture clinic owners) doing the best we can to raise our kids in an all-inclusive more just world.

We're from here. We belong here. This is our home.

To those dedicated to promoting the appreciation of ALL diverse cultures, we don't need to celebrate during a designated month but everyday of every month all year long.

If you didn't know, May is Asian Pacific American Heritage Month. Although we're bringing attention to this in May, we hope the message will continue to resonate + be heard moving forward. Let’s keep on educating, speaking out, and uplifting.
