Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago is dedicated to excellence in patient care and research. Our patients have access to expert care from a multidisciplinary team of clinicians led by pediatric neuro-surgeons and pediatric neuro-oncologists. Together with our amazing team of nurses and nurse practitioners – we provide exceptional care to meet the needs of each individual patient and their family.
Patients in our program are also supported by a dedicated social worker, child life specialists, chaplains, school services staff as well as art and music therapists. Research is at the heart of our program. We offer patients access to innovative clinical trials and novel therapies in partnership with the Pediatric Brain Tumor Consortium (PBTC), the Children’s Oncology Group (COG), the Collaborative Ependymoma Research Network (CERN) and the Neurofibromatosis Consortium in partnership with other leading academic medical centers across the country. Each week, our multidisciplinary team meets for Brain Tumor Board to review cases and develop treatment plans for our patients. Critical to these discussions is input from pediatric radiation oncologists (at Northwestern Memorial Hospital and ProCure), neuro-radiologists, neuro-pathologists as well as neurologists, endocrinologists and the pediatric rehabilitation team.
