Vedic Vision Society (IIT-Chicago)

Vedic Vision Society (IIT-Chicago) Let college teach you science. Let us teach you the Science of Happiness. We meet for weekly mantra yoga sessions and engaging discussions over dinner.

Vedic Vision Society was formed in 2003 to create a space for thoughtful IIT students seeking to make sense of today’s world through the lens of ancient Vedic wisdom. The Vedas say that when you go deep to the core or essence of every living being you will find that they are “sat-cit-ananda” (eternal, full of knowledge, and blissful or full of love). So our goal is to see the world through the lens of 1) understanding that which is eternal, not getting sidetracked by the glittery temporary, 2) to know the absolute truth distinguished from the relative temporary truths of this world, and 3) to see the world through love, knowing that we are always loved and can give love. Since a young age we’ve been bombarded with messages telling us the contrary, that we need something outside of ourselves to be complete or happy. The way the Vedic texts suggest to go beyond the noise of our surroundings and our mind is to practice mantra yoga (“man” means mind, “tra” means to free or relieve, and “yoga” means to link or connect). By practicing mantra yoga we aim to still the mind and experience our inner peace and love. We also serve free sumptuous karma-free vegetarian food to all attendees! We're also on instagram! Our Story

Vedic Vision Society (VVS) is a student organisation at Illinois Institute of Technology, which had been founded in 2003 for the sole purpose of educating students on "The Science of Happiness". We have a weekly event during the Fall and Spring semesters: "Krishna Talk" on Fridays from 7.30 pm - 8.30 pm at Wishnick Hall Room 116 (3255 S Dearborn St). A renowned speaker, who is a senior spiritual practitioner, would conduct discussions on topics such as time management, dealing with stress, yoga, karma etc. We also serve free sumptuous karma-free vegetarian food to all attendees! To join us, simply send an email to vedicvis@iit.edu and we'll add you to our mailing list.

We are also on Instagram and YouTube (@vedicvis).
