The Institute for Public Health and Medicine (IPHAM) is the nexus for all public health activities at the Feinberg School of Medicine (FSM). The goal of the Institute is to accelerate innovation at the interface of medicine and public health and achieve measurable improvements in health for patients and populations. IPHAM’s Centers focus on issues that span the spectrum from communities to the ind

ividual, and from health behaviors to genetic determinants of disease. The Centers of the Institute were designed to expand, enhance, and complement existing Northwestern University research programs. To ensure strong cohesiveness among varied activities within IPHAM, Centers have some overlapping membership, education and training aims, and research priorities. Centralized coordination of IPHAM's core resources creates a bridge that facilitates collaboration between diverse professionals and research programs, thereby attracting new leaders and collaborators whose interests span across different centers, academic departments, and schools.
