This FREE 8-week virtual therapy group is for adults who want to improve communication and set boundaries in Latinx families, without guilt and without losing their values.
Led by Marelin Enriquez-Paloalto, bilingual psychotherapist intern at Latinx Talk Therapy, this group offers a supportive space to explore family dynamics across generations and practice new ways of relating.
What the 8 weeks will look like:
Week 1 | Building trust and safety
We’ll start by getting to know one another and sharing our stories. Participants will explore family values, identity, and what communication looked like growing up.
Week 2 | Understanding communication styles
We’ll identify common communication patterns, including direct vs indirect styles, and explore how culture shapes the way we speak and listen.
Week 3 | Emotional expression as strength
This week focuses on expanding emotional vocabulary and learning how to express feelings without blame, shame, or fear of conflict.
Week 4 | Active and reflective listening
Participants will practice listening to understand, not just to respond, and build empathy across different family roles.
Week 5 | Boundaries and healthy assertiveness
We’ll reframe boundaries as care rather than disrespect, and practice expressing needs while honoring values like respeto.
Week 6 | Repairing conflict and healing
This week focuses on normalizing conflict in close families and learning language to repair and heal after difficult moments.
Week 7 | Self-compassion and cultural expectations
Participants will explore inner criticism rooted in cultural expectations and build a more compassionate relationship with themselves.
Week 8 | Healing forward, sanando hacia adelante
We’ll reflect on growth, strengthen hope and connection, and identify values to carry forward into future relationships.
