The Association for Women’s Health Care provides comprehensive, compassionate OB/GYN care to women living in Chicago and Northbrook, Illinois. With offices in both locations, you’re guaranteed convenient screening, diagnosis, and treatment from a team of expert doctors and nurses. Our suburban office is located at 40 Skokie Blvd Suite 300 in Northbrook, Illinois and our Chicago office is located at 30 N. Michigan Avenue Suite 300 in the heart of the Loop. Regardless of what stage of life you’re in, the professional team at The Association for Women’s Health Care can help you. Adolescent women can establish a health care routine and learn the basics about their bodies, be educated on contraception and safe s*x practices, and learn about possible menstrual problems. The practice provides care for the concerns of women in their 20s and 30s and performs services, such as STD screenings, breast exams, and preconception counseling. As you ease into perimenopause, the years prior to the cessation of your menstrual cycle, the doctors can help you manage symptoms, such as hot flashes, mood swings, and vaginal dryness. When you’ve gone a full year without a period, you’re in menopause, which increases your risk of certain health complications, including osteoporosis and heart disease. The doctors educate you about ways to prevent these chronic issues, and they continue to monitor your gynecologic health throughout your lifespan.

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, a time to focus on early detection and proactive care. At The Association for Women’s Health Care in Chicago and Northbrook, IL, we encourage every woman to take charge of her breast health through awareness, education, and regular screenings.

Why it matters: When breast cancer is detected early and confined to the breast, the five-year survival rate is about 99% (American Cancer Society). Regular mammograms and self-exams remain the best ways to detect changes early—when treatment is most effective.

Self-exam basics:
👀 Look for dimpling, swelling, or changes in shape.
✋ Feel your breasts in circular motions—standing or lying down—to detect any unusual lumps or texture changes.
Report any new findings to your provider promptly.

Most women should begin annual mammograms by age 40–45. Those with family history or genetic risk may need earlier screening.

Protect your health—schedule your mammogram today: https://chicagoobgyn.com/contact/

Preeclampsia: Warning Signs, Prevention & Management

Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication that can occur after 20 weeks and affect both mom and baby. Knowing the signs early can save lives.

Watch for:
• Severe or persistent headaches
• Vision changes or light sensitivity
• Swelling in the face or hands
• Sudden weight gain
• Pain under the ribs
• Nausea or shortness of breath

Higher risk if:
You’re pregnant for the first time, carrying multiples, over 35, or have high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of preeclampsia.

Prevention & care:
Regular prenatal visits, managing chronic conditions, eating a balanced diet, and low-dose aspirin (if prescribed) can help reduce risk. Early detection and monitoring are key to protecting you and your baby.
