Preeclampsia: Warning Signs, Prevention & Management
Preeclampsia is a serious pregnancy complication that can occur after 20 weeks and affect both mom and baby. Knowing the signs early can save lives.
Watch for:
• Severe or persistent headaches
• Vision changes or light sensitivity
• Swelling in the face or hands
• Sudden weight gain
• Pain under the ribs
• Nausea or shortness of breath
Higher risk if:
You’re pregnant for the first time, carrying multiples, over 35, or have high blood pressure, diabetes, or a family history of preeclampsia.
Prevention & care:
Regular prenatal visits, managing chronic conditions, eating a balanced diet, and low-dose aspirin (if prescribed) can help reduce risk. Early detection and monitoring are key to protecting you and your baby.
