🎈 LET’S CELEBRATE! We’re turning 100 and throwing the ultimate Birthday Bash

PATIENTS & FAMILIES - Join us at Shriners Children’s Chicago 100th BIRTHDAY BASH on SATURDAY June 27, 10 am - 1 pm for an outdoor carnival for kids and families, in the hospital front yard, to celebrate and honor 100 years of providing the MOST AMAZING care. Music, Games, Lunch, and a Shriners Parade.

The 100th BIRTHDAY BASH is special event for patients and their families—both current and past—and for Shriners and their families from the Shrine Centers that support our Chicago hospital. It is not open to the general public.

The Most Amazing Fracture Care Anywhere! While in gym class, 13-year-old Olivia took a hard fall and twisted her leg. Urgent care confirmed a broken ankle and she was referred for orthopedic follow-up. The family saw several orthopedic surgeons in the Chicago area and decided on the pediatric orthopedic expertise of Shriners Children’s. We offer same day/next day appointments for broken bones.

Olivia began her healing journey in a hot pink full leg cast using a wheelchair. Then it was 3 weeks in a shorter cast before Olivia transitioned to a walking boot for another month. Now, after her final X-ray and no surgery, she’s back on her feet and ready for summer fun!

Speech Language Pathologists work with patients in our cleft lip and palate clinic to address all aspects of a child’s condition including functional changes in eating, breathing and speaking. May is national Speech Language Hearing month and we’re proud of our many pediatric trained specialists at Shriners Chicago on our ACPA approved cleft and craniofacial team.

Did you know music can be an uplifting form of therapy for our patients? Music therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized non-musical goals within a therapeutic relationship. On March 20, 2026, we marked a milestone—100 years of Shriners Children's Chicago! Staff, both current and retired, Shriners, and friends gathered to honor our legacy and look ahead to the next century of care. Carol, a former nurse who dedicated over 50 years to our patients, now volunteers. The celebration continues! Our hospital grounds are starting to brighten up with the beautiful colors of spring thanks to our friends at Liberty Mutual Insurance. Their employees participate in Serve with Liberty, a global program focused on giving back to the community through volunteerism. Pro golfer Rickie Fowler surprised Shriners Children’s Chicago patient Owen with a custom outfit before today’s Shriners Children's Skills Challenge.
At 3 years old, Owen, was treated by Dr. Cappello at Loyola for a tragic lawnmower accident. After performing a foot amputation, she referred him to Dr. Ackman, Chicago's leading orthopedic surgeon for pediatric amputees. Now, Owen is a thriving, confident three-sport athlete.
