Hello, my name is Will and I am ecstatic to join the Unbroken Rehab and Athletics team!
I have been, and still am, a life-long athlete. Thus, I realize all too well the impact injuries can have on individuals’ chosen athletic endeavors, their mental health, and simply completing daily tasks. I plan to facilitate evidence-based, patient-centered, holistic rehabilitation with the ultimate goal of returning individuals to their pre-injury, active routines in better shape than they were before
My decision to become a PT was due to positive rehab experiences I had after injuries growing up as well as having an older brother who has been a PT for over 5 years. In fact, my first year in undergrad was my brother’s last year in PT school (at the same university) so I was able to learn what PT was all about
I’m originally from West Michigan and attended Central Michigan University for undergrad prior to attending PT school at University of Illinois at Chicago. I grew up trying every sport my hometown had to offer and ended up competing in powerlifting, alongside high school sports, all the way through undergrad. In the 4 years since undergrad my athletic focus has shifted to jiu jitsu, with many competitions under my belt and more planned
Outside of athletics, my free time is spent with my girlfriend and two cats (Nova and Luna) in Elk Grove Village. I enjoy reading a variety of books, catching up on the latest movies/shows, spending time in nature, and venturing to new restaurants in my spare time. I’m a huge foodie who loves all types of cuisines, so feel free to share places to try!

Who’s gonna be the shot caller? Event 3 is “Wanna Be a Wall Baller”
Inspired by the 1999 hit, “Wanna Be a Baller” by Lil’ Troy
Event 3 (of 5) will start with a 500 m row by Partner 1. Then Partner 1 and 2 will complete the wall balls, and jump rope with the work partitioned in any way between the two of them as needed. Partner 2 will then sprint to the finish with a 500 m row

Don’t ask me I’ll never tell, but Event 5 is “Kal(su) Me Maybe” 📞
Inspired by the 2011 earworm, “Call Me Maybe” by Carly Rae Jepsen
Event 5 (of 5) will start with 5 synchro lateral burpees over bar at 00:00. Then you and your partner will accumulate as many thrusters as possible until the minute is up. At the top of the minute complete another 5 synchro lateral burpees over bar. Repeat each minute until 60 total thrusters are completed, or you reach the 7:00 minute time cap

This year’s theme is going to be “Through the Decades”

Each workout is going to be titled a song from a decade, and you can wear fun outfits that match that decade

“Hi everyone! My name is Julie Klis. I am a recent graduate from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, where I earned a B.S. in Kinesiology and Minor in Spanish. While attending UIUC, I was heavily active in the local lifting community. I held an executive board position on the school’s lifting club as Membership Director for two years which involved creating events for our members to attend. Lifting also takes up a great deal of my personal time. I love attending and competing in powerlifting meets (which I have done three times!), hosting workshops, and spending time in the gym. In fact, I am currently running a powerlifting program aimed to increase my one rep max on squat, bench, and deadlift.

As is probably apparent, lifting weights is my main hobby and a large part of my identity, but it was also a big motivator behind pursuing physical therapy as a career. I am due to start my Doctorate of Physical Therapy at Clarke University in Iowa this August, which I am excited and nervous about. My professional goals include working in a clinic similar to Unbroken, where personalized and unrushed care takes priority– helping driven individuals recover from and prevent injury is truly my dream!

Other than my drive for lifting and learning, some other facts about me are that I’m Polish and went to Polish school for over a decade. I’m also a huge foodie, so please share your favorite restaurants in the area so I can try them out with my friends! Thank you for reading a bit about me, and I hope to meet you soon!”
