This Easter, we are reminded that darkness does not have the final word. Christ has risen, and with that resurrection comes the promise that even in the most difficult moments, life and hope can prevail.

As Father Richard Frechette of St. Damien Pediatric Hospital reflects, faith calls us to respond to hardship with prayer, sacrifice, and generosity toward others. These simple acts of love become medicine for the world.

At St. Damien Pediatric Hospital in Haiti, doctors, nurses, and caregivers continue to care for children and high-risk mothers despite extraordinary challenges—because every life deserves dignity and compassion.

As World Health Day approaches, we are reminded that access to quality healthcare should never depend on where a child is born. Yet for many families in Haiti, lifesaving care remains inaccessible.

This Easter, we invite you to stand with the children and families served at St. Damien.

As World Health Day approaches, we’re reminded that access to healthcare should never depend on where a child is born.

Five-year-old Alice arrived at St. Damien Pediatric Hospital after months of illness and delayed care. Her family had finally reached the only hospital in Haiti equipped to treat children with cancer.

One year later, six-year-old Cassandra arrived in critical condition after months of worsening illness and repeated attempts to find care closer to home. Doctors admitted her to the Intensive Care Unit and worked quickly to stabilize her.

At St. Damien Pediatric Hospital, children facing their most serious illnesses receive specialized care grounded in compassion and dignity. For families across Haiti, it is often the only place they can turn.

As World Health Day on April 7 approaches, please consider making a gift to support this lifesaving work.

Sixteen years ago this week, Haiti experienced a devastating earthquake that changed countless lives. Today, we pause to remember those who were lost and to honor the strength, resilience, and courage of the Haitian people.

At NPH Haiti St. Damien Pediatric Hospital, we also honor our colleagues and all first responders — both professional and volunteer — whose compassion and courage rose to meet unimaginable tragedy.

Despite the hardships, we remain committed to providing quality, humane, and dignified care — guided by compassion, professionalism, and a deep sense of duty.

To remember is to continue to heal.
