At UChicago Pritzker School of Medicine students are able to dive into their studies, embrace every learning opportunity, and serve at places like the South Side Free Clinic. Mentors like Monica Peek, MD have shown them how social factors shape health, strengthening their commitment to public health and primary care.

Students Chuka Onah, Morish Shah, and Stanton Greenstone are advancing as finalists in the UChiPolitics Policy Challenge with the “Text-to-Health Illinois” project. This initiative, which pairs texting outreach with community health worker support to improve Medicaid patient engagement, was recently presented to former CDC Director Susan Monarez, PhD.
These experiences continue to empower their journeys as physicians-in-training and future leaders in medicine. They’re grateful to be part of a community driven by curiosity, mentorship, and impact—one where alumni and donors truly help students thrive.

After transitioning from a career as a therapist, Alissa Doucet has found inspiration and opportunity with UChicago’s Biological Sciences Division. Thanks to the BSD community’s support, she’s focused on impactful research, joined leadership programs, learned from global experts, and accessed resources like the Field Museum—fueling her growth as a scientist and future leader.

Alissa participates in Mothapalooza 2025 at the Arc of Appalachia Nature Preserve, setting light traps and recording moth biodiversity with fellow scientists, naturalists, and community members. She’s proud to be part of a community driven by curiosity, innovation, and collaboration in the biological sciences.
