The addictive experience according to our Director, Terry London. Notice that we do NOT use the term “disease” when referring to the addictive experience. This is because, in the words of Terry:

“Can you think your way out of Leukemia? Can you think your way out of Kidney Disease? No, because those are actual diseases. But, can you think your way out of making addictive choices? People do it everyday!”

What are your thoughts?

One of the most difficult issues to face in life is anxiety about death (not to be confused with fear of death, which is rational). Feeling anxious about our impending death does nothing to help us appreciate the fact that we’re alive now, does nothing to prevent our deaths, and moreover usually leads us to take our time for granted by worrying about the future while wasting the present. Of course, we prefer to keep living. Of course, we fear things that could end our lives or cause us bodily harm. But short of that, there’s no rational reason to dwell on the fact that we will all someday die.

You can do your best to avoid risky or fatal situations. You can make healthy choices to increase your chances of a longer life. But, it’s highly advisable to not get bogged down by the thought of death. As the quote below states “death, a necessary end, will come when it will come.” Enjoy your life while you have it!

New harm reduction podcast looking for volunteers to come on as guests and share about current mental health struggles that they’d like feedback on or guidance on! All harm reduction based, and all 100% judgement-FREE! ❤️

Feel free to DM us directly or the Rational Harm Reduction page itself! More information in the post below 👇

𝗕𝗜𝗚 𝗡𝗘𝗪𝗦!!! We’re planning to record our first few podcast episodes in the next 2 months! But, before we can do that we need volunteers willing to be our guests and talk about mental health issues that they are currently struggling with. We can keep folks anonymous if that’s your preference, but either way you’ll be helping many more people than just yourself by helping to break stigma surrounding harm reduction and mental health issues in general!

𝗪𝗵𝗼 𝘄𝗲 𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝘄𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗮𝗽𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗮𝗰𝗵 𝗶𝘀:

Our aim is to help individuals struggling with mental health issues such as depression, addiction, anxiety, anger management, shame, guilt, and self-condemnation. We explore these issues using a compassionate psycho-educational harm reduction method based in Rational Emotive Behavior Theory and Techniques, formally referred to as 𝗥𝗘𝗕𝗘: 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝗘𝗺𝗼𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 𝗕𝗲𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗶𝗼𝗿 𝗘𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻. Each host of our podcast is trained and certified in REBT / REBE and holds either an MS, LCSW, LPC, or CRSS.

𝗗𝗜𝗦𝗖𝗟𝗔𝗜𝗠𝗘𝗥:

*𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘀 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆, 𝗻𝗼𝗿 𝗶𝘀 𝗶𝘁 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹 𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿𝗮𝗽𝘆!* These are psycho-educational sessions aimed at helping individuals help themselves. We can offer resources for free/low-cost professional therapy at the participant’s request.

𝗧𝗼 𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝗻𝘁𝗲𝗲𝗿 𝘁𝗼 𝗯𝗲 𝗮 𝗴𝘂𝗲𝘀𝘁, feel free to DM our page directly or email us at 𝗥𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝗮𝗹𝗛𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻@𝗴𝗺𝗮𝗶𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝗺

Can’t wait to get started, and thank you all in advance!
