A Brief History of the Chicago Shaolin Temple

2007: Founded by Grandmaster Shi Yan Ju, a renowned disciple of the Songshan Shaolin Temple.
2008: Recognized by the Mayor's Office for its contribution to the city's martial arts community.
2009: Master Yan Ju represents the Chicago Shaolin Temple at the Songshan Shaolin Temple day in California.
2010: Master Yan Ju is honored as an honorary citizen of Naperville.
2010-2020: The temple flourishes, offering Shaolin martial arts and Chan meditation to a diverse community.
2020: Adapting to the challenges of the pandemic, the temple transitions to outdoor training sessions.
2021-2023: Master Yan Ju undergoes medical treatment in China.
2023: A devastating fire strikes the temple building, forcing the community to continue training outdoors.
2024: The Chicago Shaolin Temple remains resilient, embracing community practices and working towards a new facility.
