Wilma Rudolph is an Olympic Track & Field athlete. Growing up Wilma suffered from polio; paralyzing, and disabling her to walk for many years. At the age of 12, she began to gain mobility in her legs after many doctors believed she would never walk again in her life.

In High School, she was a sprinter and played basketball. When she was just 16 years old she competed in the Olympics, taking home bronze in the 4x100m relay race.

In 1960 she set the world record in the 200m race (22.9 seconds).

In her next Olympics, she would go on to be the first American woman to win 3 gold medals in a single Olympics. She won her medals in the 100m dash, 200m dash, and the 4x100m relay race.

In 1974 she was inducted into the National Track & Field Hall of Fame, and in 1980 she was inducted into the International Sports Hall of Fame.

Wilma Rudolph is a role model to all, and will always be remembered as an incredible athlete.
