Providing therapeutic treatments for acute and chronic pain management.

10/24/2025

Do you know what is one of the greatest tools in your chronic pain toolkit?

Mindfulness.

That state of active attention to the present moment. Observing, without judgement. Assessing without going into ‘fix it’ mode right away.

It is the art of noticing…what’s happening in your body, your mind, your heart, the environment around you.

Practicing mindfulness daily is what helps you become the expert of your own condition and experience. It empowers you to become a step ahead of fixed patterns, changes, flares.

With my massage patients, we work on body awareness, which is just one element of mindfulness. It is a skill you can develop over time. And one that sticks with you for life.

By the way….I’ll be leading a body awareness session at Yoga TriFecta Workshop on November 16th. Check out their page for more details.

I get this question a lot…

How often should I get a massage?

And the truth is….it depends.

It depends on your body, your tolerance, your goals, your schedule, your finances, your willingness to commit to your self-care.

This is why it’s so important for us to work as a team. Together we can determine the frequency that is best for you and the type of work that seems to be the most effective.

These are soft guidelines that I recommend. But there is a fluidity to how we navigate self-care sessions. Sometimes they need to be more frequent, sometimes we can allow more time in between.

Let’s talk and determine what’s right for you.

Are you struggling to change your narrative?

Your chronic pain does not have to dominate your story.

I can help you rewrite it.

Here’s a little peek into this year’s Autumn Adventure trip to the Pacific Northwest.

I am never more calm and grounded than when I walk amongst trees. And the trees of the Olympic National Park were certainly ones to behold.

I’ve mentioned numerous times that travel is hard for me, due to my neurological condition. And even with the right tools, tricks, and meds, sometimes things don’t go quite as planned. The first part of our trip (Seattle) was a bit uncomfortable for me. Although, not as bad as during past trips.

But once I stepped onto the Olympic Peninsula, something changed within. My brain quieted. My heart slowed. My body let go of (most) of the tension that it holds onto for dear life.

I could breathe. I could move. I could feel the vibrations of the earth and air around me.

These trips are healing.

I do my best to carry that feeling with me long after we return. Which is why I take thousands of photos (you may think I’m kidding, I am not), and share them in places where I can revisit, remember, and remind my nervous system how it feels to be regulated and calm.

Do you have a happy place that you connect with on a deeper level?

Please let me know, I might want to visit!

Mental health is a major concern in cases of chronic pain. It is a factor in daily living, as well as in treatment.

Today, on World Mental Health Day, we are reminded that EVERYONE is deserving of accessible mental health support.

With all of the turmoil, conflict, and crises happening around the world, it is our responsibility to raise awareness and promote support for all who are affected.

In observation of this day, various organizations and individuals come together to promote mental wellness, reduce stigma, and advocate for support services.

Take a moment for yourself today to either participate in a mental health awareness initiative, check on a friend or loved one, or set aside some time to honor your own wellbeing.

And remember that while we recognize the importance of mental health awareness around the world today, it is an ongoing, everyday struggle for most, and our words and actions must continue to provide support, encouragement and care no matter what day it is.

October is one of my favorite months!

I realize that it has been October for a week, and I’m just now posting the calendar of availability.

Last week I was still traveling, and internet/reception was a little unreliable.

There are still some openings over the next several weeks. Some days have only one spot remaining. Some days have more options available. Most of them will book up fast.

If you haven’t booked your October maintenance massage session yet, this is your reminder.

Planning ahead is part of your self-care.

See you in the treatment room!

Have you ever not booked a massage session because it felt too expensive with the addition of a tip?

Tipping culture is an awkward topic of discussion. And very divisive, with many people thinking we should do away with tipping completely, and many who literally survive off of the tips they receive.

Massage has long been a service in which tips are associated. And it’s a big point of debate within the massage community. There are so many reasons as to why practitioners may or may not allow tips. I have contemplated this topic quite a bit myself. And I’ve just kept it pretty simple over the years…

Tip if you want to. Or don’t.

There are many factors that played into my decision, from how people think of massage (personal care service or medical), to how much of a hindrance tipping might be in maintaining a consistent self-care schedule.

But ultimately, allowing tipping turns my pricing into a sliding scale, where people can pay my base rate, or add a little extra. And that means I can keep my base rate a little lower to keep it more affordable, knowing that the little extra that some people add on helps to balance it all out.

It’s a difficult question for clients/patients to ask, so it’s important for me to be transparent. While I certainly am running a business and have expenses to cover, I also became a Massage Therapist to help people. And I never want people to feel like they can’t book an appointment when they need to because of the cost. So if tipping is simply an added cost that you can’t cover, don’t worry about it.

My worth as a practitioner is not defined by my tips. But it is certainly influenced by the comfort level of my clients and their confidence in my work.

Does the idea of not tipping change your mind about booking more frequent massages?

Let me know (in comments or privately). I want to hear your thoughts!

It’s been such a busy year so far, and April was packed with business and life events. I just *might* have acquired some new hires for my practice.

I met these Torti sisters nearly 6 weeks ago, and they hooked me with their enthusiasm, natural talent, and their abundance of adorable antics. They’ve only been massaging for about 4 months, but show a lot of promise. We’ve been training behind the scenes, making sure their anatomy & physiology, kinesiology, and technical skills are up to pawr (their ‘biscuit making’ modality scores high marks.)

A few new services could be in the works…synced Shiatsu and Ashiatsu (massaging with hands AND feet), and possibly an 8-pawed tandem massage….IF we can get it coordinated.

The girls are still a bit young and inexperienced, and have pretty short attention spans at the moment, to be honest. And they’re not exactly licensed (yet.) But I’ll keep you posted on their progress.

I adopted kittens! Welcome Freya and Nova!
