Overexplaining doesn’t always come from clarity.
Sometimes, it comes from survival.
Psychology shows that people who grew up feeling misunderstood, judged, or constantly questioned often develop the habit of explaining everything.
Not because they want to talk more.
But because they learned that being misunderstood felt dangerous.
So they explain their tone.
They explain their choices.
They explain their feelings.
They explain their intentions.
Again and again.
Over time, it becomes automatic.
But your existence doesn’t need justification.
Your boundaries don’t need approval.
And your decisions don’t need a courtroom defense.
Sometimes healing means realizing:
you don’t have to explain everything to be respected.
