My friend asked me the other day if I had seen the at home micro needle devices everyone is using 👀 this hadn’t made it into my algorithm yet, but every few years I feel like at-home micro needling becomes popular again and I’m always discouraging people from using these tools and devices at home.

Using a tool with actual needles (no matter how small) pierces your skin, sometimes drawing small amounts of blood. Even if blood isn’t drawn there is a high risk of transferring bacteria that gets onto the tips of the needles from being in a non-sterile environment. And if blood is drawn, there is even more caution and sanitation to be had. There is also a chance of spreading bacteria from acne or breakouts.

Using a needle device too often, pressing too hard, using it in the wrong places, or using it with the wrong ingredients can all damage the skin. Which is obviously not the goal.

There are so many ways we can care for our skin at home. Leave the micro needling to the professionals! I recommend in Boulder for micro needling sessions ✨✨
