Chicago Pediatric Therapy & Wellness Center provides physical, occupational, speech and Behavior therapy services in the clinic, school, and teletherapy setting as well as in the home through the Early Intervention Program. We work with children of all ages, from premature infants to young adults. Our therapists work in partnership with families to establish meaningful goals and provide interventions that are developmentally appropriate in a child-friendly environment. Communication with the child, parents, and specialists on the team is the cornerstone of our intervention and treatment philosophies. We have multiple social groups and classes for all ages that meet on a weekly or twice weekly basis. We strive to provide a variety of services for children and their caregivers to serve as a resource for families in the community. These groups include developmental play groups, social skills groups, parent support groups and motor skills groups. January 21st will be the first meeting for this group. Sessions will continue each Wednesday until the end of February. Parents will have the chance to discusses the joys and difficulties of having a family and raising child and how it can have even more challenges when you are parenting a child with special needs.

Our group is for kids ages 6 to 13 who have siblings with disabilities or chronic conditions. The kids in our SibShop work with other children and our social workers to talk about what it’s like having a brother or sister with different abilities.
Participants learn how to handle different or challenging situations in a fun and friendly setting filled with games, crafts, and kid-friendly discussions in safe spaces.

😁 SibShop is a great way for kids to connect with other children who may have similar experiences in their families. It will be a fun way to bring kids together for friendships and hopefully build connections far beyond the 6 weeks of the workshop!

On January 21st, this group will meet for the first time in the new year. This session will be for parents to discusses how having a family and raising children is hard. It can have even more challenges when you are parenting a child with special needs. That's why this group exists, to support you and build into our amazing community of families.

It's okay to ask for help, be vulnerable with your feelings, and to take care of yourself. There's a strong solidarity to be found in building your own personal community of people who just "get it."
