Love playing tourist in Rome! Spent the day visiting some of my favorite places- the holy steps , the vatican to visit Pope Leo and get a blessing for the new year, Santa Maria maggiore where Pope Francis’ remains are found, Santa Maria travestere- a restful basilica and a great area to have lunch and the basilica of st Augustine where the remains of St Monica are found.

Finishing my day with dinner with a spectacular view of the colosseum! Simply breathtaking!

Calling it a day as I have to lecture early :)) Spent a simply blessed day in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!

First talk of the year- Rome here I come!

Heading to Rome to do an RSV talk at the University of Rome! So honored to have been asked! This is the disease process that put me on the map!

As a Chicago catholic girl- ofcourse I’m stopping by the Vatican to see Pope Leo XIV and ask him to pray for a win for the Chicago Bears , to pray for our immigrant communities and for world peace too:))

This first generation latina doctor feels completely blessed! Gracias Diosito, Virgencita, mis santitos y angelitoos for this beautiful journey!

Discussing the winter surge of flu cases as the state of Illinois is now on high alert with first deaths from flu being reported!

As people are coming back from holiday gatherings- we have the combination of low flu vaccination rates and a highly contagious flu variant that are driving this surge !

Please get your flu vaccine , your COVID-19 vaccine and if eligible your RSV vaccine too! Let’s keep safe and healthy this winter season! Vaccination remains our most powerful tool of protection!
