Hate has no place here.

This weekend, a hateful symbol was drawn on the building we share with Latinos Progresando and other community organizations. It was an attack on all of us—on our shared values, our histories, and the communities we proudly serve.

Esperanza stands in solidarity with our neighbors and partners. We reject hate in all its forms and remain committed to building spaces rooted in dignity, compassion, and inclusion—where our Latinx community and every patient is safe, seen, and respected.

El odio no tiene cabida aquí.

Esta fin de semana, un símbolo de odio fue dibujado en el edificio que compartimos con Latinos Progresando y otras organizaciones comunitarias. Este acto no solo fue un ataque hacia ellos, sino hacia todas y todos nosotros: un ataque a nuestros valores compartidos, a nuestras historias y a las comunidades a las que servimos con orgullo.

Sabor y Salud is back at Esperanza!

We’re excited to welcome back Sabor y Salud, our seasonal program that brings fresh, locally sourced produce and nutrition resources directly to our community. While this year’s format may look a little different, the goal remains the same: helping our patients eat well and live healthier lives.

Thanks to generous support from Bank of America and our continued collaboration with Chicago Urban Farm Solutions, we’re proud to offer this program once again.

Who can participate?
This year, Sabor y Salud is available to active Esperanza patients only.

Nos complace anunciar el regreso de Sabor y Salud, nuestro programa de temporada que lleva productos frescos de origen local y recursos de nutrición directamente a nuestra comunidad. Aunque este año el formato es un poco diferente, el objetivo sigue siendo el mismo: apoyar a nuestros pacientes para que coman bien y vivan de manera más saludable.

We’re excited to welcome Mariela Hernandez as Esperanza’s new Director of Health Center Operations.

Mariela brings over 15 years of healthcare experience, starting as a Registered Medical Assistant at Erie Family Health Centers. She’s led initiatives in clinical operations, compliance, revenue cycle, and most recently managed citywide shelter operations at IDHS.

She’s passionate about patient-centered systems and building strong, mission-driven teams. We’re thrilled to have her leading our operations with heart and expertise.

Help us give her a warm welcome to the Esperanza team!

Meet the Panorama PACE Team!

As you can see, it takes a whole team to deliver quality, all-inclusive care to our older adults. Over the next few weeks, we will be introducing you to members of the Panorama PACE staff, highlighting the work they do to create the best experience possible for our participants. It’s official—our Little Library is open!

This week, we held a beautiful ribbon-cutting ceremony at our Brighton Park campus to celebrate the launch of our brand-new Little Library, a project years in the making.

A heartfelt thank you to everyone who made this possible, especially our incredible Programs team: Ofelia Figueroa and Maribel Rabadan, for their dedication and vision. We’re also grateful to our community partners at Open Books and The Southwest Collective for helping bring this dream to life.

🎓 A Historic Milestone at Esperanza!

This week, we proudly celebrated the first-ever graduation of the Rush-Esperanza Family Medicine Residency Program.

Our Class of 2025, made up of six exceptional doctors, marks a major achievement not only for our organization, but for the future of community-based, compassionate care.

We are honored to have trained and learned alongside such talented physicians, and we look forward to seeing the impact they’ll make in the communities they serve. Congratulations, doctors!

Our mission is to deliver health and hope for Chicago’s underserved communities.

In 2004, residents of the neighborhoods of Pilsen and Little Village on Chicago’s Southwest Side joined administrators from nearby Saint Anthony Hospital to address the critical lack of accessible health services in the area. They opened a community health center on South California Avenue called Esperanza, the Spanish word for “hope.”

Today, Esperanza provides bilingual, high quality primary care, behavioral health and wellness services to the community, regardless of immigration status, insurance status, or ability to pay. Esperanza’s four sites in Brighton Park, Little Village, and Marquette Park deliver care to over 20,000 patients each year from communities across the Southwest Side.

In May, we opened a fourth, and largest, site in Brighton Park to serve an additional 20,000 patients each year with high quality healthcare. Our commitment to offering care of the highest quality is made clear by our designation as a National Quality Leader by HRSA in both 2016 and 2017, which ranks Esperanza among the top 3% of health centers in the nation and the top two in Illinois for our quality of care.
