Let’s talk about Dreams!
This may seem unrelated to massage therapy but I assure you that it is.
Many believe that dreams are windows into the subconscious. Some believe that dreams are other worlds and realms that we are able to slip into while operating in the two upper Chakras: Sahasrara (crown) and Ajna (third eye).
It is fair to say that the unconscious and worlds unseen by the waking eyes are one and the same.
Perhaps this is where the term: Collective Unconscious comes into play. Drawing a bridge between the mind (unconscious) and the body (worlds capable of being reached through the upper chakras).
It is important to recognize that even though the Third Eye and the Crown are connected to more spiritual aspects of life, they are still a part of the body. Just as the mind (seemingly home to the unconscious) is still a part of the body.
What this could possibly mean and what I believe, is that our dreams are capable of drawing a bridge of communication throughout our system (represented in the restricted or flowing state of the fascia- a system known for holding unconscious feelings, emotions and memories). That system can expand beyond our own physical body. Exploiting us to strange and other worldly realities.
Through these explorations into the unconscious (feelings, emotions, memories), formulated in a way that speaks directly to our own unique mind, the person is capable of working through “traumas” and thus unwinding their own fascia through their dreams.
It has been noted that during sleep (specifically during the REM cycle) that people will twitch and spasm in their sleep. Similar to how a client would twitch or spasm whilst unwinding during a Myofascial Release session.
I suppose that what I am trying to say here is that You are capable and are always working to unwind your own body outside of receiving direct help from others.
You are more capable than you may believe.
Just as you didn’t directly notice the incremental growth of yourself from child to adult. We usually don’t notice growth until we look back and reflect but I promise, it’s there and it happens every night while you dream.
