On Tuesday, June 8, 2021, Katie Nicole Christofferson (Katie Christofferson) of Chico, CA passed away suddenly at the age of 28. We take comfort in knowing that her beloved Mimi Rose was with her and will forever be by her side.
Katie Nicole was born on April 21, 1993 in Chico, CA and resided there for most of her life until she began her nursing career in Reno, NV. She is survived by her mother, Sis Gilmore; her father, Terry Christofferson; her stepfather, Jim Gilmore; her stepmother, Sondra Christofferson; her brothers, Jason Christofferson and Brodie Gilmore; her sister, Lacie Gilmore and step-sister, Heather Paiva; and her nephew Jaxson Christofferson.
Katie was an inspiration to all who knew her. She graduated from Pleasant Valley High School in 2011 and then went on to study at Butte-Glenn Community College where she obtained her C.N.A. License and completed pre-requisites to further her education and career in the medical field. Katie was accepted in 2018 into Carrington College Reno to further pursue her dream of becoming a Registered Nurse and graduated on February 18, 2021. Upon graduation, she accepted a job offer at Renown Regional Medical Center to fulfill her passion of working with kids in their pediatric wing. Katie enjoyed spending time with her friends and family the most. She was a strong-willed and ambitious young woman who always worked her hardest to obtain whatever goals she set for herself; whether that meant earning Champion ribbons while competing in dressage competitions, earning her Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing, or receiving the highest marks in all of her academic courses and being top of her class. Katie was vivacious, smart, adventurous, loving, and unbelievably compassionate; she loved ALL animals and was always the first to lend a helping hand or shoulder to cry on. She never wanted anyone to feel pain or have self-doubt and would be your biggest supporter and fan. Katie Nicole was more than just a great daughter, sister, and friend, she was the laugh that lit up the entire room, the infectious energy you wanted to surround yourself with, she was the person you wanted right beside you for any of life’s adventures. Katie is the sunflower in a field that is forever turning to face the sun. She will be deeply missed by all of those blessed enough to have known and loved her.
A memorial service will be held at Glen Oaks Memorial Park, 11115 Midway, Chico, CA on Wednesday, June 16, 2021 at 9:30am and a celebration of Katie’s life will follow at 12:00pm at The Palms, 2947 Nord Ave, Chico, CA.
