I have always understood the benefits of massage therapy, but it was while attending Milan Institute that I really gained a testament to the overall body wellness that massage provides; such as decreasing chronic pain, increased flexibility, increased range of motion, calming the nervous system and helping you to become more aware of your body and your unconsciously held tension.

Happy Administrative Professional's Day to my favorite Admin. . .me! 😆

Being a business owner, you do all the things. Sometimes I'm rocking it taking care of all the office manager type of responsibilities and other times I'm falling behind. . .please don't ask to see the list of clients I need to get back to 🤦🏽‍♀️. . .but through it all, I still show up happy and ready to work.

Today I'm giving myself a pat on the back for a job well done running my business. Maybe I'll treat myself to lunch later 😉

I typically do not share advocating that I do at school board meetings (I attend all of them), but I felt this needed to be shared as I know some of you have school aged children or school aged children you care about.

In the last 72 hours I have spoken with Assistant Superintendents, Directors of education and board members, with more meetings happening. I also learned this was shared at some sort of district personnel meeting. Was it discussed because I was asking questions that I couldn't get answers for? Was it discussed because they were worried I would take further legal steps? I don't know, but my name is being spoken behind close doors.

Parents with school age children, I highly encourage you to reach out to your district and find out what security measures they have in place. Ask the hard questions. Protect your student and their peers.

A new, to me, client came to Evolve's 5 year celebration and asked about ear seeds. I explained to her what they do and we got to talking a little more in-depth about them.

After chatting for a bit, she informed me that she was getting ready to head to Europe and was wanting something to help her with motion sickness. Told her there was and we got to work placing the ear seeds.

A couple of weeks ago, she shared her experience and told me she wants them again for her trip next week for Spring Break.

The seeds might be small but they are definitely mighty! And this month you can save $5 on a treatment.

Today I traveled to my hometown to see my niece in a production of Frozen Jr and saw my 7th grade English teacher.

He asked what I'm doing living in Chico and after I told him I'm a massage therapist (and been doing it for 16 years) he immediately replied "that is not what I would have pictured you doing." And while I'm curious as to what he saw me doing with my life (I'll be forever kicking myself for not asking him), after chatting more about my career and the work I do he said "well, you look very happy doing what you're doing" and he is 100% right.

Massage was never supposed to be my lifelong career, it was supposed to be a pit stop on my way to becoming a social worker. But then life threw me the BIGEEST pivot area and ignited a hidden passion. And now I'm doing work I love that makes me so happy. Work I can't imagine NOT doing. And this year I'm making moves and creating something even greater ❤️

Shout-out to my Alma Mater today -Boise as this year marks my 16th year as a massage therapist. What was supposed to be a temporary pivot so I could return to school to finish my degree in social work (while working as a massage therapist), turned into a complete career changes and I've never looked back.

Thankful for my instructor Rob who taught me how to market myself and how to make a business plan. He also gave us students the opportunity to volunteer with the Boise State Athletic Department, working on the student athletes that ignited a passion in me.

Being a massage therapist has provided me a career that I love, allows me to help others feel good in their bodies, and has provided me flexibility in my schedule, as an entrepreneur, to both provide income for my family and to be home when my kids get out of school.

Here's to an AMAZING 16th year!
