Brusie Funeral Home is a third generation business that has been family owned and operated since 1942.
Warren Pope Brusie graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science and moved to Chico to acquire an interest in the funeral home in 1941. In 1942, Warren P. Brusie became the sole owner of the funeral home with his wife, Helen Brusie. Warren and Helen raised two children, Warren and Saralee. Warren P. Brusie expanded his business in 1959, by establishing a new cemetery in Chico , Glen Oaks Memorial Park .
Warren Albert Brusie, followed in his father's footsteps and graduated from the San Francisco College of Mortuary Science. He returned to Chico and worked with his father in the business until his father passed away in 1970, at the age of 61, leaving his son to run the business at the young age of 27. At the time, Warren A. Brusie and his wife, Anne Brusie, had two young children, Marc and Amy Brusie. Warren continued to run the business as his father had until his son joined him in 1990 and his daughter in 1992. Marc and Amy Brusie both became licensed Funeral Directors. Marc Brusie worked with his father at the funeral homes and Amy Brusie worked at the cemetery. In 1994, they purchased Chico Cemetery and Bidwell Chapel from Victor Van Hook.
Marc Brusie married his wife, Janice in 1995. Janice Brusie joined the business as the Chief Finanical Officer in 2000. Marc and Janice are raising two children, Lauren and Chet. Amy Brusie married her husband, Paul Connors, in 2003. Paul and Amy are raising a daughter, Paige. Marc and Amy as third generation Brusies, plan to continue to run the business with the same values as their grandfather and father- personal service, integrity, and commitment to the community.
