Ernest Hemingway once said: In our darkest moments, we don’t need solutions or advice. What we yearn for is simply human connection—a quiet presence, a gentle touch. These small gestures are the anchors that hold us steady when life feels like too much.
Please don’t try to fix me. Don’t take on my pain or push away my shadows. Just sit beside me as I work through my own inner storms. Be the steady hand I can reach for as I find my way.
My pain is mine to carry, my battles mine to face. But your presence reminds me I’m not alone in this vast, sometimes frightening world. It’s a quiet reminder that I am worthy of love, even when I feel broken.
So, in those dark hours when I lose my way, will you just be here? Not as a rescuer, but as a companion. Hold my hand until the dawn arrives, helping me remember my strength.
Your silent support is the most precious gift you can give. It’s a love that helps me remember who I am, even when I forget.

This article offers insight into the emotional and spiritual dimensions of choosing a vegan lifestyle—something I often see resonate deeply in my work and conversations.

Posted April 22, 2025 Mindfully choosing to eat plant-based, as an expression of care for animals, the environment, and our own health, creates a massive internal shift. As we eat more compassionately and leave animals off our plates, we may discover transformations in heart, mind, and spirit that w...

Every word of this! I hate to tell people, but all those ā€œinsultsā€ don’t work.

Libs- abundant
Snowflake- beautiful and unique
Woke- ummm, awake & aware
Safe Place - I’d love one, thanks.

Being called these things are such a beautiful, if unintentional, compliment to the kind of person I am. So, thanks?

Consistent with your values. From the comfort of your home.

For more than two decades my greatest passion in life was helping others to heal and grow through my work as a psychotherapist. After I went vegan in 2015, things changed. My mission broadened and animal rights advocacy became a defining aspect of who I was as a person and, inevitably, who I would become as a therapist.

Animal rights activism and vegan advocacy come in numerous forms. If you ask 20 vegans how they define the terms, you’ll probably get 20 or so different answers. Using my skills and passion as a therapist to counsel and support other vegans is what I do.

My background and training as a psychotherapist (Licensed Clinical Social Worker) is extensive. I earned a Masters Degree in Clinical Social Work from New York University in 1993 and I’ve been in the field of psychology ever since.

I have a broad range of experience treating individuals, couples, and families in a variety of therapeutic settings across New York and California. Some areas of expertise include: depression, anxiety, relationships, stress & burnout, grief, trauma, chronic illness, major life transitions, gender identity and self-empowerment.
