There's much more to supporting the fight against breast cancer than finding out about your personal risk and wearing a pink sweatshirt. Getting breast cancer information and separating facts from fiction is a good way to start.

This week, our residents and staff will engage in mindfulness sessions, nature walks, music therapy, and journaling workshops. We believe in creating spaces where everyone feels heard and supported.

Meet Mary Ellen, a resident at The Arbors at Amherst. She’s an educator of 50 years, a mother, and a grandmother. Mary Ellen enjoys the comfort of being close to family and the connections she’s built here over the past five years. What she loves most is the community, a team that cares for you like family, friends to share each day with, and activities that bring joy, like live music, wine parties, and her favorite pastime of sitting in the lobby watching people come and go. A true people person, Mary Ellen says The Arbors has made her feel full of life. Her advice: try it and see how special life at The Arbors can be.

Team Outing Spotlight! Our incredible Activities Team had such a fun-filled day together! We kicked things off at Look What I Made, where everyone designed their very own epoxy charcuterie board. The creativity (and the laughs) were overflowing as each person brought their unique style to life. After crafting, we headed to the iconic Kitty’s Restaurant for a delicious Italian lunch—complete with lots of laughter, plenty of pasta, and maybe even a splash of wine.

A heartfelt THANK YOU to our Activities Directors for the dedication, imagination, and love you bring to our residents every single day. 💛 You are truly the heart and soul of The Arbors & The Ivy communities, and we couldn’t be more grateful for all that you do!

Many families accidentally rush into choosing an assisted living community without taking the time to compare options. This can lead to stress and second-guessing later.

Take your time. Ask about care levels, talk with staff, and visit more than once. Small details—like how residents interact or what activities are offered—can make all the difference.

Frank’s journey to calling The Arbors home started early. His mom moved in first and he loved it so much that he would frequently ask when he could move in too. When the day finally came, he was ready. This was home.

Now twelve years later, Frank continues to light up every room with his vibrant personality and infectious smile. He is not just a resident, he is part of the heart of our community. Today we celebrate you Frank and twelve wonderful years of making our home your home. 💛
