A Retired Mind All things retirement. Life After Work (aka: Retired)
Pam and I have joined the retiree group. Right? It can be more like a nightmare if you allow it to.

We have both retired and are living the dream on social security. We choose not to let it. Pam is wonderful with a budget and we work to live within that budget. The end of September 2019 we moved to a great area in Florida situated in the big bend area on the gulf side. Chiefland is about 35 miles west of Gainesville. Great place to live as a retiree. Not heavily populated, yet. We found Chieflan

d when God led us here to be the first full time minister of the First Christ Church of Chiefland. That was over 35 years ago and now we are back. We are not the preaching minister and wife now, we are maintenance ministers for the church. We maintain the 5 acres and buildings, cleaning, mowing and renovating in exchange for use of the parsonage. Our plans for the future are simple. We will do what God wants, what we want, when we want and where we want. Right now we are busy caring for Pam’s folks as they live with us. Chiefland is now home but from here we will follow God wherever he takes us. Fill in preacher? Absolutely. Volunteering and youth camps? You bet as that is are real passion. Or traveling with our kids, grand kids and great grand baby. I mean, after all, we are retired.

We are excited to inform you of our new fundraising goal it is the "The Next Mile" projects. If you were to ask people to define or explain the word "religion" they would probably describe the organizations and ceremonies carried out by various church groups. This is probably why younger people say that they are spiritual but not religious, because they no longer relate to the various ritua...

I recently heard a good friend of mine, who I will just call Scott, preach 2 very powerful and soul searching sermons. One of the topics was a very time sensitive one. Scott reminded us, me in particular, that people need the Lord. People all around us. People we come incontact every day of the week. People who are lost and wandering in a society that has become very dark and evil. Confused people. Misguided people. Angry people. Hurting people. People with hope.

His secound topic offered us a very simple way to rememnber what is expected of us as beleavers in the Gospel message of hope and salvation. He said that what we need to do is "see a need, plant the seed". That simple phrase resignated with me a profound way. So often we are worried that we are note able to share Jesus with people. Scott reminded us in Scripture that we simply need to recognize a need in a person situation and help to "fill that need". Then we can plant the seed of God's Word in their life.

Scott also reminded us that it is not our job to save people. God and the Holy Spirit do that. We just need to plant the seed. I often here misguided people claim to have saved a person. No, they have saved noone. God is in the business of saving people. We are simpy farmers in the "field ripe for harvest."

So, if you are reading this and are like me, hesitant to tell others about Christ, remember Scott's challenge. "See the need. Plant the seed." That is our call to serve Him. Thank you my brother for opening my eyes to this simple truth.

I have changed focus with my blog. Leaving politics to others. I will be posting about my Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. I have deleted my past posts am am starting fresh. Please follow me as I share hope and truth to anyone who will consider what I am doing. Please feek free to comment below and share your thoughts and prayer concerns.

God Loves you, Phil

Been awile since I have posted here. We have begun a new year. 2024. Will it be better or worse than 2023. My guess, worse. With elections coming up I suspect more attempts to still the elections to further destroy the country. As if it could get any worse. On second thought it can get worse. I am really saddened by the state of our nation. I say that as a veteran. I served to help secure our freedoms and democracy only to see you continue to decline. I am ashamed of this person occupying the White House and all the Democrat, and most Repulbican, Senators and Representatives. They have failed the American voters and are complicint to a degree in the the downfall of our once great nation. I ho[e and pray 2024 is different. Only time will tell.
