In light of recent events..... It is important to reflect.
Have you ever stopped to think about how different you are depending on who’s standing in front of you? To one person, you’re the quiet soul who barely speaks a word. To another, you’re the one who can’t seem to stop talking. Some know you as kind, compassionate, and willing to listen. Others remember you as cold, distant, or even the one who walked away when they needed you most.
In someone’s story, you might be the hero — the one who showed up, who made the difference, who saved them in a moment when they were crumbling. In another’s story, you’re the villain — the one who hurt, disappointed, or betrayed them. And to countless others you meet in passing, you’re nothing more than a fleeting thought, a face they’ll forget before the day ends.
The truth is, you don’t exist as one singular version of yourself. There are thousands of you’s scattered across the memories and perceptions of every person you’ve ever crossed paths with. Each interaction, each moment, each glance or word spoken has shaped someone’s unique version of you.
And here’s the hardest part to grasp: you will never truly see yourself as others do. You’ll never hear your own laugh the way it lights up a room. You’ll never notice the subtle mannerisms that make you you. You’ll never feel the weight of your absence when you’re gone from someone’s life. To yourself, you’re just… you. Ordinary. Familiar. The person you live with every day.
But in reality, you’re so much more.
You’re a thousand different people, all wrapped up in one life. A collection of moments and impressions, remembered and retold through the eyes of others. Stories you’ll never get to read, chapters you’ll never get to edit, endings you’ll never get to rewrite.
It’s a humbling thought, isn’t it? To know that you’re bigger than your own perspective — that while you might see yourself as small, average, or unremarkable, someone else out there carries a memory of you that changed everything for them.
