Rehab to Home Success Story

Today is filled with mixed emotions as Mel heads home with his lovely wife of 75 years. While he is excited to be back by her side, he shared that he would gladly stay longer to continue therapy because of the wonderful care he received here at Arc at Chillicothe.

Mel spoke so highly of our team, praising the girls for their teamwork and the compassion shown throughout the entire building. One of his favorite moments was attending our Music Program with his wife, reminiscing about the many years they spent dancing together.

We are so grateful to have been part of Mel’s journey and are honored by his kind words. He shared that he would definitely recommend our facility to anyone needing therapy.

Wishing Mel continued strength, health, and many more beautiful moments with his bride.

Art Without Boundaries truly touched the lives of our beautiful residents during their one-on-one Mneme Therapy sessions. While each session may feel like a private painting lesson, it offers so much more. Through show-and-tell exercises and guided conversation, the program gently supports the brain, especially for those navigating stroke recovery or memory challenges.

With every brushstroke comes connection. Stories are shared. Confidence is restored. Words that once felt difficult begin to flow. And with each completed painting, there is a reminder that they can still create something meaningful, beautiful, and worthy of being framed. The pride on their faces says it all.

We are so grateful to Dori Bollinger-Thompsonfrom The Art Without Boundaries Association for spending her Friday painting, singing, and reminiscing alongside our residents.

A heartfelt thank you as well to Helping Hands Resale Shoppe in Chillicothe for generously funding this project and making these powerful moments possible.

Partnerships like these bring creativity, healing, and joy into our home. It was truly a rewarding day for all.

Today for our Olympic Games we played bowling, and it was so much fun watching the residents participate while we all cheered them on. There were lots of smiles, laughter, and great moments throughout the game. Residents also enjoyed spending the day watching the Olympics on TV and following along with the excitement. It has been a wonderful day of fun, movement, and friendly competition for everyone.

Last week we were blessed to have Rich Gilmore join us and fill our home with wonderful music!

The joy didn’t stop there three of our staff members jumped up to dance and were quickly dubbed “The Solid Gold Dancers.”
Our residents clapped, toe-tapped, and smiled from start to finish.

It was a beautiful afternoon of music, laughter, and community. Fun was truly had by all!

You truly spread joy and love throughout our home. The smiles in the pictures say it all — our residents were so happy and grateful for your kindness and generosity.

Residents are still enjoying the Olympic spirit and working hard to earn the gold!

Today’s events included a lively ring-toss competition where everyone cheered each other on. The enthusiasm, teamwork, and big smiles made the room feel like a true Olympic arena!

We also took time to honor Presidents Day by reminiscing about past presidents, sharing facts, and swapping some wonderful memories.

Another great day filled with fun, learning, laughter, and friendly competition here at Arc at Chillicothe.

Yesterday for our Winter Olympics fun, we enjoyed playing Discus and made delicious pizza for both residents and staff. When in Italy, you must eat pizza, and it made the day even more special. We have been following the Olympics closely, learning about the culture and experiencing the excitement of the games together. All week long we have been cheering for Team USA and clapping proudly to support our team.
