Due to increased traffic of patients requesting controlled substances, a new policy has been set in place.

-Benzodiazepine and stimulant medications will not be routinely prescribed. Provider will explore non controlled substance options with you first.

-There are new parameters and dosing limits that I have established that may not be as high as what you are used to at the place you are coming from. Some of the doses that have came through my door are very concerning.

-Benzodiazepines will not routinely be prescribed for patients taking Buprenorphine products. Circumstances will be individualized for patients. (I.e. it doesn’t matter if a friend tells you they got a medication from my office. You may not get the same)

-Gabapentin is not a routine medication that I prescribe for patients without a documented true medical diagnosis for it.

All of this being brought into light as I have seen a steady demand for controlled substances. My passion is addiction/ substance use. I want to HELP the population not add to our communities addiction problem.
