When Addiction Affects the Whole Family
Scripture:
Romans 8:28 — “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him.”
Addiction doesn’t just take hold of the person using — it wraps its arms around the entire family. It steals sleep, peace, trust, and stability. It leaves questions without answers. It shakes marriages, strains relationships, and tests faith.
There are nights I lay awake wondering how everything got so tangled.
How did addiction creep into my home?
How did it change my son so drastically?
How did it lead to me raising his child?
But even in the chaos, God has been present.
He didn’t cause the addiction.
He didn’t approve of the destruction.
But He is redeeming what the enemy tried to destroy.
Every healed moment, every step forward the she makes, every tear that turns into prayer — that is God rebuilding a family the enemy tried to break.
Prayer:
Lord, restore what addiction has damaged. Protect our family from bitterness and despair. Heal my son, guard his children, and strengthen us as we stand in the gap. Help me believe that even this — even addiction — is not beyond Your ability to redeem. Amen.
