Addiction. Lust. Greed. Gluttony. Desire. Can't get it off my mind. I need it. I can't live without it. I deserve it. I want more. These urges are powerful and drive us to act in ways we might not otherwise act; to think thoughts we might not otherwise think. This is why Desire is a branch of avidya, because these urges and thoughts and desires can cloud and suppress our intuition. Where is desire coming from? What does it really want? What do I really want? Follow the Wisdom Path out of avidya.

Improve your energy and immune system function with one simple trick: sitting upright. Upright alignment with your spine improves energy flow along your body [https://yogainternational.com/article/view/find-the-perfect-meditation-pose/]. All of your nerves stem from your spine and communicate with your brain. Upright posture decompresses your nerves and streamlines the nerve signals between your body and your brain [https://alignwc.com/the-importance-of-spinal-alignment-for-overall-health/]. This flow of information generates energy along your central column, and the smoother your central column is, the more efficiently this energy flows. Tips for sitting upright: Be comfortable, focus on pelvis, hips, spine, neck, and head alignment. Your pelvis is neutral to balance the bottom of your sits bones on the ground. Your hips are level and stable. Your spine is naturally curved and steady - you are not flaring forwards, slouching backwards, or twisting. Your chin is slightly tucked to open the back of your neck - you may feel a gentle stretch along the back of your neck and head. Your head is centered facing forwards. Most importantly, be comfortable as you gradually adjust, strengthen postural muscles, and improve your alignment.

What does yoga mean to you? There are eight components of yoga, often referred to as 8 limbs: yama, niyama, asana, pranayama, pratyahara, dharana, dhyana, samadhi. These components are written in Patanjali's Yoga Sutras and are discussed at length throughout yoga philosophy, inlcuding TKV Desikachar's "The Heart of Yoga". It is your experience of yoga that gives it meaning.

Avidya's Ego. Focus awareness and discern: is this my ego, or is this who I really am? Who am I? What is my identity? How do I explain my identity? Each identity is an ego, and our favorite egos are the ones we wear without even knowing we are wearing them. This is why it is the most translucent branch of avidya, almost like a siren's song. Do I have definitions for labels such as parent, brother, accountant, gamer, biker, hero, father, mother, author, farmer, deadbeat, narcissist, child, family, lawyer, politician, student, homeless, protector, partner, teacher, leader, savior, sibling, sister, therapist, worker, miser, etc.? How do behaviours relate to identity? What behaviors do I like? Do behaviors change with different identities? Do the same behaviors mean something differnent in different situations? What would my behaviors be under a different identity? With no identity?

Infrared panels (IR) used at SNO are chosen for their IR health benefits and minimal electrical magnetic field (EMF) radiation. IR radiation and EMF radiation are different. IR radiation is beneficial for health, offering improved blood circulation and even reducing pain [https://www.warm4less.com/news/5-surprising-health-benefits-of-infrared-heating/]. EMF radiation, however, can be disruptive to biological systems (potentially causing cancer and hormone disruption) and it is therefore important to minimize EMF impact. SNO's IR panels have less than 0.00 microTesla (uT) at twelve inches from their surface - well above where your head will be in our studio! For reference, an average cellphone tower emits 0.21-0.51 uT at 12 inches from its surface [https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC9653978/ ]. To be fair, 12 inches from the surface of a cell tower is also (hopefully) well above your head (not a bird's though), but the radiation at street level from a cell tower 25 feet away still emits 0.01-0.03 uT. Can you feel the difference between the IR panels in our yoga studio and the cell towers walking on the sidwalk? Which feels more relaxing, calming, and restorative? Do you ever get a nervous buzz or anxious itch in your head walking on the sidewalk? How about in our studio? Do you think the birds and squirrels notice? Comment and let us know!
