I broke my own rule after 12 years of avoiding fragrance oils at home—no perfumes, air fresheners, plug-ins, or synthetic scents of any kind. But recently, a repeat customer placed a large order and requested a specific scent that wasn’t natural. I explained this, and they were fine with it, so I agreed. I won’t make that exception again.
Since Thursday, I’ve been dealing with non-stop asthma attacks, and needing round-the-clock medication just to breathe. The synthetic fragrance was overwhelming and sickly sweet to me, if it wasn’t for the label I wouldn’t have known what it was.
Natural ingredients may still cause reactions, but they generally pose fewer risks unless there’s a direct allergy to the plant itself. This experience has been a reminder to stay true to the natural path I chose for my health and work.
