New findings from the Marshfield Clinic Research Institute’s Tick Inventory via Citizen Science study show 51% of 700 adult female deer ticks carry the pathogen that causes Lyme disease. Researchers have also found the pathogen that causes Lyme disease is found more in ticks in western Wisconsin. That pathogen is also found more in the fall.
Researchers want to understand how to better prevent and treat tick-borne diseases like Lyme.
