Blood Bank of Delmarva is a non-profit community service organization that provides blood and blood products to 19 hospitals on the Delmarva Peninsula. More than 79,000 blood donations are needed in this area each year for about 20,000 patients across the Delmarva Peninsula. Earlier last week, we joined the Hockessin 4th Festival & Fireworks Parade in style! Our amazing staff and their families rocked red, white, and blue “Team Blood Donor” tees while spreading the word about the importance of blood donation. ❤️💙

At just two years old, Andrew was admitted to the hospital where he underwent a scheduled bone marrow transplant for a rare disease. The following year when he developed TTP, blood and platelets saved his life again. His parents have always been very grateful as to those who give the gift of life through blood donation, and they have striven to be regular blood donors themselves. Andrew was inspired to host three blood drives during the school year as his Eagle Scout project, giving back in a powerful way and bringing more young donors into the fold.

Andrew Albert, of East New Market, Maryland, knows firsthand the lifesaving power of blood donation – because it saved his own life.

Our Blood for a Brew summer series made another fun stop, this time at Two Stones Pub in Newark!

Donors like Jerome and Joanne showed up to give blood and stayed to enjoy a delicious dinner. These two are no strangers to giving back -- Joanne used to organize blood drives, and their son Jason is one of our logistics drivers.

We also caught up with donor Ian, who swung by after seeing our text alert and proudly rocked our limited-edition T-shirt.
