Hand Therapy Week day 3️⃣! Today’s challenge was creating a sculpture out of theraputty. What’s your favorite? The pickle jar, thumbs up, or ✌️? So many great options to choose from 😆

Theraputty is a great tool that we use for hand strengthening! You can target specific muscles, roll it out to help with scar tissue, and use it to regain function in your hands.

It’s day ✌️ of hand therapy week AND World Bicycle Day! We are bringing awareness to cyclist’s palsy, a condition we commonly treat in hand therapy.

Cyclist’s palsy is numbness and tingling in your small and ring fingers and can be caused by pressure through the base of your hand from handlebars. This area houses Guyon’s Canal, which is a small passageway for your ulnar nerve.

It is very treatable with the correct orthosis, exercises, and sometimes taping. We can also educate you on the proper body mechanics for biking to limit the amount of pressure placed on this area of your hand.

Send us a message if you have any questions! We would love to help you keep biking AND be able to feel all of your fingers 😊👍🚴‍♂️

At Ability, we are passionate about providing the highest level of care to our clients. Under the care of a highly skilled occupational therapist, these activities can become possible again!
