Apparently, scammers are feeling extra official these days…
One of our doctors at Clarity Eye Care got a call saying she missed jury duty and would be arrested if she didn’t rush to the sheriff’s office immediately. 🚔 The caller even insisted she stay on the phone the whole time (because nothing says “legit law enforcement” like not letting you hang up… 🙄).
When she said she’d call the sheriff’s office herself to double-check, the guy got defensive and hung up faster than a telemarketer hearing “no thanks.”
Turns out—shocking, we know—it was a scam.
The real sheriff’s office told us this is a common trick. They’ll try to:
• Rush you into panic mode
• Keep you on the phone so you can’t verify anything
• Suddenly offer a “quick payment” to make it all disappear (how convenient 🙃)
⚠️ Friendly reminder:
If law enforcement needs you, they are NOT going to handle it like a drive-thru order over the phone.
✔️ Hang up
✔️ Don’t give out any info
✔️ Call your local sheriff’s office directly
Moral of the story:
If someone calls demanding money or threatening arrest… it’s probably not the law—it’s just a scammer hoping you’ll panic.
Stay smart and share this so others don’t fall for it!
