Today, we're thrilled to announce that the Jesse Peterman Library in Floyd is the latest recipient of a ONEbox, bringing our total donations across the New River Valley to over 50! This is a monumental step in equipping our community with life-saving tools.
What is a ONEbox?
The ONEbox is an innovative, portable device designed to provide immediate, clear video instructions on how to respond to a suspected opioid overdose. It’s an invaluable tool in critical moments, offering guidance when every second counts. The ONEbox features a training mode for new staff, a Spanish-speaking mode to ensure accessibility, and is easily carried directly to the scene of an overdose.
Where did the ONEbox come from?
The ONEbox was created by Joe Murphy of Murphy Media, Inc., a West Virginia native and entrepreneur who was moved to act by the devastating impact of the opioid crisis in his own community. The ONEbox is managed and distributed nationwide by the West Virginia Drug Intervention Institute, Inc., a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. It's designed to be a simple, accessible tool, much like an AED, empowering anyone to respond effectively during an overdose emergency.
We're incredibly proud of the impact these ONEboxes are making across our communities. So far, they've been placed at a wide range of organizations, including:
* Pulaski County Youth Center
* Instill Mindfulness
* All Oxford Houses in the NRV
* Montgomery County DSS
* 401 Peer Center
* New River Community College
* NRVCS Crisis Center
* Meadowview Apartments
* Floydfest
* Republic of Floyd
* Pulaski and Dublin Libraries
* Sheetz
* Calfee Park
* Pulaski County Courthouse and
Town and County administration buildings
* Randolph Park
* 2 local churches
* Pulaski Sportsplex

A huge shout out to the Pulaski County Office of Prevention and Recovery for their incredible efforts in distributing so many boxes throughout Pulaski!
