Emery Joel DeWitt, 81, of Marion, Kentucky died Dec. 20, 2019 at the Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center at Lourdes following a decade-long battle with dementia with Lewey Bodies.

He leaves his wife of 62 years, Barbara (Martin) DeWitt; two daughters, Lucinda (Cindy) Hagan (Ron) of Lone Oak, Kentucky, and Kelly DeWitt of Huntsville, Alabama; a brother, John DeWitt of Pensacola, Florida; sisters Rose Colussi, of East Washington, Pennsylvania, and Mary Evans, of Henderson Ky; 6 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

Born and raised in Rib Lake, Wisconsin, Mr. DeWitt moved to Crittenden County in 1955. After graduating from Crittenden County High School in 1956, he joined the Army, traveling the world with his family until his retirement in 1979.

Upon his retirement, he attended Murray State University where he earned Bachelors of Science (1980) and arts (1981) and Masters of Science (1982). He served as an inspector for the Crittenden County Health Department, and later as a radiation health inspector for the state of Kentucky.

Mr. DeWitt was a Master Mason at Bingham Lodge #256, a member of the Order of Eastern Star at Shady Grove #505. He served on a number of other Masonic bodies, including the York Rite, the Scottish Rite, the (Shriner), and served as the Grand Commander, Knights Templar of Kentucky in 2002.

He was active in the local community, serving on the board of directors for Habitat for Humanity and the local library.

He was a teacher, a story-teller, a clown, and a friend to all who knew him.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Mabel (Knuth) DeWitt, brother, Arden DeWitt, and infant daughter Cynthia DeWitt.

Services are scheduled for 6:00 pm Thursday December 26, 2019 with Masonic Rites preceding at 5:30 pm. Friends may call from 1:00 pm until service time at Gilbert Funeral Home. Interment will be held Monday December 30, 2019 at Kentucky Veterans Cemetery West in Hopkinsville KY.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to the Mercy Health Foundation - Lourdes, Ray and Kay Eckstein Hospice Care Center, PO Box 7100, Paducah KY 42002-7100; in honor of E.J. DeWitt.

Aubrey Everett Guess, Jr., 79, of Marion, KY. died September 4, 2019 at Crittenden County Health and Rehab. He attended Calvary Baptist Church.
Survivors include his children, Bruce (Christy) Guess, Dennis (Lisa) Guess and Sue (Chris) McDonald all of Marion, KY.; sisters, Edna Kinnis of Salem, KY. and Elaine Brasher of Evansville, IN.; 7 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wanda Faye Guess; parents, Aubrey E. and Ina Elizabeth Guess, Sr.; daughter, Linda Swatzell;1 brother and 2 sisters.
Services are scheduled for 1 PM Saturday September 7, 2019 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY. with interment in Asbridge Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM until service time Saturday at the funeral home.

David Lee James, 63, of Rosiclare, IL. left this earth to be with the Lord on September 3, 2019 while being surrounded by his loving family.
David was born on September 20, 1955 in Mt. Carmel, IL. to Billy Joe James and Crystal Adams Byrd. David married the love of his life, Kathy English, on July 18, 1980 and together they raised three wonderful daughters; Shannon Leigh Lane, Carole Yvonne Davis and Amy Nicole Larrimore.
David served four years in the U.S. Navy and later went to school for his HVAC license. He retired from National Property Management Services when it became more than his health would allow.
David belonged to Bethany General Baptist Church and enjoyed spending time fishing.
David leaves to mourn his wife, Kathy; daughters, Shannon (Wayne) Lane and Vonnie Davis; four grandsons, David (Tiana) Hunt, Chris Elzie, Brandon and Nic Larrimore; granddaughters, Heather (Jake) Burton and Kathy King; brothers, Ralph (Sharron) James of Texas and Keith (Maureen) Haney of Washington; sisters, Betty Jo (Marty) Wilhoit of Oklahoma, Billie Rae (Tony) Grewing of Texas and Gail (Mike) Bryant of Oklahoma; 9 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ken and Crystal Byrd and Billy Joe and Marilyn James; daughter, Amy Larrimore; son-in-law, Randy Davis and brother, Kenneth Byrd, Jr.
Services are scheduled for 1 PM Friday September 6, 2019 at Hardin County Funeral Service in Rosiclare, IL. with interment in Shelby Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 10 AM Friday until service time at the funeral home. Military Rites will be given at the cemetery on Friday.
Donations may by made to the Hardin County Relay 4 Life.

Carter McDaniel, 79, of Paducah, KY. passed away Thursday August 23, 2019 at Baptist Health Paducah. He was a member of the Ohio National Guard.
Survivors include his nieces, Judy Hamby of Marion, KY. and Ashlee Richardson of Mayfield, KY. ; nephews, Mike McDaniel of Benton, KY. and Owen Threlkeld of Tolu, KY. and one great niece Kelsey "Carter" Sunderland of Marion, KY..

He was preceded in death by his parents, J.C. and Allie McDaniel; sister Lois Fiala and brothers James and Tommy McDaniel.

Funeral services for Mr.McDaniel will be held 2:00pm Sunday August 25, 2019 at Gilbert Funeral Home. Friends may call from 12:00pm until service time at 2:00pm Sunday at Gilbert Funeral Home. Burial will be at Whites Chapel Cemetery.

James Virgil Holloman, 86, of Marion, KY. died August 13, 2019 at Crittenden Community Hospital. He was a member of Creekside Baptist Church and a United States Army Veteran.
Survivors include his children, Mark (Lavanda) Holloman of Paducah, KY. and Darrell Holloman of Marion, KY.; brother, Roger Holloman of Lola, KY.; sister, Kuma Little of Marion, KY.; grandchildren, Keely (Jeremy) Walker of Marion, KY. and Darrick (Katherine) Holloman of Mayfield, KY. and great grandchildren, Brianna and Madison Walker and Theodore, Henry and Oliver Holloman.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Virgil and Mary Eva Holloman; 3 sisters and 1 brother.
Services are scheduled for 11 AM Saturday August 17, 2019 at Gilbert Funeral Home in Marion, KY. with interment in Mapleview Cemetery. The family will receive visitors from 5-8 PM Friday at the funeral home.
