The nose is considered the doorway to the brain and consciousness.

A few drops of warm herbal oil in each nostril can help:

Lubricate dry nasal passages
Support mental clarity
Calm Vata (Ether & Air qualities in the body)
Ease tension in the head and neck
Support healthy breathing

During colder or drier seasons, keeping the nasal passages properly lubricated may help support the body’s natural defenses. A well-oiled nasal lining creates a healthier barrier against environmental irritants.

Morning is best; after cleansing, before stepping into the day.

Use a proper Nasya oil. Avoid if congested, sick, pregnant, or immediately after eating.

Ayurveda is daily rhythm. Simple practices. Long-term resilience.

Why do we twist in yoga?
🧘‍♂️
Twisting postures are more than stretching the spine.

From a yogic perspective, twists create space along the vertebral column, nourish the tissues around the spine, and gently awaken the nervous system. They restore mobility to the thoracic region; the center of breath and heart.
From an Ayurvedic perspective, twisting supports agni; our digestive fire.
When we compress and release the abdomen, we stimulate circulation to the digestive organs and encourage healthy elimination and pranic flow.
Twists also help regulate apana vayu the downward-moving energy responsible for grounding and stability. When apana flows well, the mind feels steadier.

Energetically, we wring out stagnation; physically and emotionally.

But we don’t force.
We support.
We breathe.
In restorative forms, like these, the nervous system softens. Digestion improves. The mind settles.

Ever feel heavy, foggy, or low energy even when you’re trying to be healthy?

In Ayurveda, digestion is about more than food; it’s about how we process life.

Agni is your inner digestive fire.
When it’s strong, we feel clear, energized, and steady.
When it’s weak, we can feel sluggish, bloated, or mentally cloudy.

This month at Chula Vista Yoga Center, we’re sharing simple practices to support your digestion, energy, and clarity; on and off the mat.

Small daily habits can make a big difference.

Every mat holds space for someone’s journey.

Maybe today is about arriving again.
Maybe today is about breathing.
Maybe today is about remembering you belong.
