Expressing strength at high speed is called POWER and itโ€™s the FIRST physical ability that begins to diminish with age. Use it or lose it and my client Nick decided not to lose it; despite his long injury history from LIFE!

When parents contact me for youth training; SPEED and STRENGTH gains are their concern. You must first build a base of strength, then express that strength at high speed to develop POWER.

Depending on your injury history and fitness level, power training needs to be scaled appropriately to continue making gains (like everything in fitness)

Contrast training, basic jumps and modified calisthenics are a great place to start because they can be introduced at the most basic level then advanced based on ability. Build an appropriate base before trying any contrast training and jumps but donโ€™t be shy about starting here if you built a decent base.

Power pushup x 5
Double KB Deadlift x 5
Broad jump x 5
Rest one minute and repeat 3-5 times

Stay active, strong and most importantly BE WELL ๐Ÿ™Œ

If your form looks great and itโ€™s clear that you need to bump up the intensity a bit, there are a lot of ways to do that besides just increasing the weight-progressive overload.

For example we can add sets/reps (volume), decrease rest time or improve density (how many sets you do in a given amount of time).

Depending on your goals and fitness level, choose wisely and have fun learning.

Your personal development is the most important thing in your life because through you, the people you love get taken care of based on your skills and resources.
