THINGS TO BEWARE OF THAT WE SEE ONLINE WAY TOO OFTEN
⚠️Unqualified people giving nutrition advice
Having a “fit” body doesn’t give you the authority to try to teach nutrition to others. Unfortunately people can call themselves a “nutritionist” with little background in the area. Even physicians don’t get much, or any, nutrition education in med school! That’s not to say they aren’t smart, of course. And this is not about hating on influencers.
Think about it - a cardiologist doesn’t know how to best treat kidney disease.
We should respect the compiled research & advice of those that have studied their specific fields.
Registered Dietitians have Bachelor’s degrees (& soon will also require a Master’s degree), supervised practice experiences, & must pass a comprehensive exam.
⚠️Weight loss or “detox” products that promote weight loss, detox, fat burning/shrinking, etc.
People don’t always mean to cause harm, but they can do so unknowingly. Some products contain contaminants or interact with your prescribed medications or can cause dehydration, liver damage, or worse.
Not all products are bad but that’s why it’s important to have someone in your corner who knows how to truly tell if it’s a good quality product. I respect the hustle, however I don’t respect fear mongering, shaming tactics, small company-funded “studies”, anecdotes, & vague pseudoscientific explanations. Plus many of these are grounded in fatphobia & can lead to disordered eating
